Makrades is where the roadside sellers try to sell you Olive oil and mapman as he's known in our family was. He could flick a map across your windowscreen before you knew what was happening in years gone by.
They had put a rough speed bump across the road last year, as they are getting older and need to slow you down.
There is a very good taverna up there run by a Greek couple. The food is wonderful, ethnic and very reasonably priced. The view to the sea is not bad but not as good as the tavernas on the road as you come up the hill.
But these are all touristic with even photos of meals outside
(which I dislike) and not that cheap.
I think the village is Makrades but cannot recall the name of the taverna which was one of the best
in Corfu. No gimmicks like "free" stodgy starters, mountain of chips, free fattening tasteless, ice cream.
Instead quality Greek food. Wish I could recall the name.
