Can anyone help with identifying the location of Lake Kournas! The reason being is that in my other halfs Aeroplane Magazine there is an article about an attempt in 1924 to fly West to East around the world, but unfortunately, the crew had to make a forced landing on Lake Kournas. So,if anyone can help it would be interesting to find out exactly where this is.

Jan, we think you may be right, as the plane was having problems over Corfu, landed on the lake and help was sent from the nearest village. When the royal navy arrived, the plane was hauled across a narrow strip of land separating the lake from the sea (which could indicate Lake Korrision) then it was towed to the port of Corfu to await a spare engine.
So, it appears that the name of the lake was incorrectly given and it was, after all Corfu !
Many thanks for your help.
