Some unknown person who has done the most to promote sport in their area for children, disadvantaged etc A lot of kids nowadays believe actvity means pushing buttons on a Play Station....anyone who gets them out and doing something should be rewarded. (Yes I'm dead old and don't understand how kids can't get out and play. I work with criminals so know that sometimes it's not safe). In my street kids play on their bikes, football, skipping etc- yes they do my head in with the noise!!! but it is so nice to see them playing together.

I know the Olympics has become very commercialised but it remains the big international sporting event - without a hooligan in sight!
We spent five days at the Athens Olympics and the atmosphere was fantastic. My son was ten years old at the time and he paddled in the fountain with people from Japan, Mexico and Chile. He still talks about it seven years on, especially meeting Steve Cram on the train to the stadium.
If you get a chance to attend, especially with children, I would recommend it as something they will never forget.
Now what was the theme? Oh yes, Steve Redgrave would be the obvious choice but don't rule out Kelly Holmes.

I'm a bit confused, I've googled the "Olympic Flame" and it keeps telling me the flame doesn't arrive in Britain until the 18 May 2012 then it will travel around the UK for 70 days until it gets to London having been carried by 8,000 people.
Or have I got it all wrong..probably have

Betting on Who will light the Olympic flame? 4-6 Steve Redgrave, 7-2 Kelly Holmes, 12-1 David Beckham, 12-1 Tanni Grey Thompson, 12-1 Chris Hoy, 16-1 Matthew Pinsent, 16-1 Denise Lewis, 18-1 Rebecca Adlington, 22-1 Seb Coe, 25-1 Jonathan Edwards, 33-1 Zara Phillips, 33-1 Paula Radcliffe.
So it looks like Sir Steve Redgrave is the most likely one at 4-6 on..
Also FedEx have said they can match the delivery time of 70 days, but sender would have to stipulate whether morning or afternoon delivery required

I once met Steve Redgrave when working at a rowing club dinner. He was a lovely chap, and his wife too. I was so excited to be able to hold the box containing his olympic medals. All that blood sweat and tears.

According to the Daily Mirror yesterday, the olympic flame sets of from Land's End 2012 on Saturday May 19th and ends up at opening ceremony at Stratford, East London on Friday 27th July. The news coverage yesterday from Land's End was just about what was going to happen next year and where the starting point in UK would be and that people can be nominated to carry the torch.
