Hello, I would like some help please. At Easter we ate at an excellent fish restaurant in Boukari in the South, but for us this is too far for a regular drive from Agios Georgios North. Can anyone recommend a really good fish restaurant in the North West? Have car, will travel, anywhere between Paleokastritsa right up to Sidari or just beyond. Thanks for your ideas.

A lovely fish taverna we visited last year is the 'Imerolia'. It's located just outside of Kassiopi on the left hand side coming from Sidari. You can see it from the road. Its also right by the beach. Food and service was great and we had a fab lunch there looking out to sea and Albania. Lots of locals eating there as well, which is always a good sign. Hope it's not too far away for you to travel and if you do get to visit, have a nice time...

Hi there,
There are a couple of excellent fish tavernas in St George North - both on the left hand side of the resort if you are looking seawards.
The furthest away on the bay is virtually inaccesible by road - but you can hire a boat to taxi you if you ask around the resort (but not in any restaurants, obviously!). The owner is apparently a tad eccentric but everything is cooked to order - so expect to stay for a while if you visit.
I'm afraid that I don't know the name of either - but I'm sure that you will get pointed in the right direction if you ask - or someone else on the forum will know.
This info is only correct as of last year I'm afraid! One or both could be closed - but hopefully not.
Enjoy

The furthest fish restaurant recommended by Cheryls is called Fisherman's Cabin but I don't agree the owner is eccentric. He is a nice man who has a slight speech impediment sometimes. He and his family before him were fisherman from the tiny cove where the restaurant was created rather hidden away from public view.
Eating there is real unique experience under the olive trees and although it is remote it is quite popular to those who know about it. It is about 35 minutes walk from the Alkyon Beach Hotel end of Agios Georgios. You just follow the track along the back of the beach and don't divert. You can see photos on this web-page:
http://www.agiosgeorgios.co.uk/fishermans.htm
The web page also refers to the boat taxi option.
Unfortunately the road is rough in places and it is not recommended to drive there by low hire cars as the underneath will be damaged (not insured !!) although some people do it. The route is described fully on 'Walk 2' at:
http://www.agiosgeorgios.co.uk/walks.htm
If coming from Paleokastritsa don't be tempted to take a road which on the maps seems to be a short-cut from just near the village of Prinillas. It is even rougher and very steep so really only OK for 4-wheel drive vehicles with high ground clearance. Instead drive to Pagi village and then down to Agios Georgios beach. The Alkyon Beach Hotel is just on the corner there and I suggest you leave your car in the road by the beach and walk to the restaurant.
The other restaurant Cheryls mentions which has a good reputation is called AkroGiali or (by UK tourists 'Bennies'). It is at the water's edge looking over Agios Georgios bay.
It is reached by the same track but is only 10 minutes walk from the Alkyon.
Until late May the track suffers winter damage so the restaurants are often late opening for the season. Bennie's opened a few days ago (we were the first customers of 2011 for just a drink with a lovely view).
Fisherman's Cabin will open within a week.

Hello,
There is also a good fish restaurant in Kontokali. It's near Kontokali Bay Hotel. The name of the fish restaurant is Roula. I understand that even ministers eat over there.

Thank you to all for your replies. We often visit Kassiopi so will try the Imerolia for lunch. We were aware of the two fish tavernas in Agios Georgios, but have never before ventured to either. Will definitely try AkroGiali this time but The Fisherman's might be a bit far for me to walk (not too great on my pins).

We took that route by accident back in 2005. We came down the hill into Aghios Georgios and turned left at the bottom looking for somewhere to park. Nowhere presented, we carried on and by the time we realised that we were on a track we'd have been better not attempting it was easier to keep going rather than try to turn and go back. We could see something at the other end, we didn't know what it was, we were hoping that we'd discover an alternative route back.
The something we could see turned out to be Akrogiali. We couldn't find an alternative route and realised we'd have to go back the same way. I was driving (Gary hadn't packed his licence!) so could not have any dutch courage. We did have a rather long & splendid fresh fish & sea food lunch at Akrogiali though. It was a glorious day and we had a lovely afternoon.
We haven't been back to Akrogiali since although we have visited Aghios Georgios North. Now I know that there is an easier way to get there we might give it another go or try Fishermans Cabin.

p.s. we were in a hired Fiat Punto, luckily it survived the experience unscathed.

Visited the Fisherman's Haunt today with friends, and an elderly lady living near there. The road is not good, but definitely not impassable, and if you take care you do not need to worry about ruining the underneath of the car.
Position is fabulous and the welcome from all very friendly. Food was cooked to order but didn't take long- as their specialities are seafood which do not require too much cooking
