Hi Everyone,
I hope you can help I have never been to Corfu before. I am from Ireland I am a diabetic and I find especially in the heat that the only soft drink that increases my energy and sugar level is Lucozade. Does anyone know if I can buy this anywhere on the island or will I just bring my own?
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Julie

Lucozade is more or less dextrose, glucose and flavouring. I have never seen it on sale and taking bottles of it with you would eat up your luggage allowance like there is no tomorrow
Before you go why not experiment with making your own drink with powdered dextrose and glucose, I am sure it will say on the bottle the quantities per 100mls and add some lemon juice.
Get it right and all you will have to take is a small quantity of dextrose and glucose as lemons are cheap and freely available in Greece
You could also try taking packets of Lucozade tablets!!
We are both diabetic and to be honest it sounds as though you are not eating enough long acting carbs to counteract the energy used up in hot weather
Topping up with instant sugars is fine when you get very low but they do not last long
Try eating more bread/croissants/cereal etc with breakfast and lunch and carry something like tracker bars with you to give you added boost between meals. Digestive biscuits are good too and these can be bought in Greece
We also take a large bottle of water everywhere in a bottle cool bag with a couple of small ice packs in the bag and slip in a bar or chocolate in case we need instant revival.
Drinking water is important for a diabetic too, in large amounts. If you don't and you get a tad dehydrated then this can also make your body call on more reserves and bring your sugar levels down
All of us are different and it is just a case of finding out what works for you.
If you really feel only Lucozade works for you than I would suggest taking a box of energy boost Lucozade sachets when you get low and drink water as a soft drink. The sachets are great for hypos and as they are re-sealable you only often needs a few mouthfuls to boost your sugar levels.
