I'm in a quandry! What do forum users think, I really want to go to Corfu this year, having missed last year (heartbreaking) and do not know what to do. The hotel we go to no longer uses Olympic Holidays, however we know we can get a good deal on just a room there. Flights are quite expensive once you add on all the extras, so could I book a package and just use the flights, and once I arrive in Corfu inform them that I will not be needing the hotel? Not sure how ethical this would be, and don't know if I have the guts to do it! I know I will get some good answers on here.

I dont see any problem as long as you let the rep know at the other end. We went independantly for the first time last year and was very nervous that all would go as planned. At least going with tour operator if anything goes wrong you have a bit of security. Ive looked for a previous thread which had similar discussion but cant find at the moment. But it was along the lines of getting a cheap deal to say Kavos and just using this purely for the flight. Its your money spend it as you wish and if you save enough money for a few more Mythos all the better

maxholland- guts have nothing to do with it, just commonsense.
If you can get a cheaper deal that way fine, just make sure you tell the rep. when you arrive at the airport,
If the hotel you are booked in marks you as a 'no show' don't expect them to keep a room for you just in case you decide you would like to use it after all a few days later!
With those provisos observed you should have no problems. After all you are only travelling wihin Europe so there is little that can go wrong which cannot be put right easily.

Maxholland...absolutely no problem doing it that way. We've done it ourselves in the past. Just make sure you tell the rep at the airport you don't need the hotel.

Absolutely no problem doing this. We've done it several times, as have other family members and friends. As previously stated, tell the rep on arrival that you won't be using the accomm. and/or transport, so the coach won't be held up waiting for you. It's totally crazy, but it is sometimes a lot cheaper to do this, even though you are going on the same date, flight and airline! Have a lovely holiday. Moyra.

Hi we have done this and just told the rep, no problem. Once stayed at my brothers in Spain, got the transfer to hotel, booked in, brother picked us up, had few days with him, he took us back to hotel, and stayed there a couple of nights, and had transfers back to airport. As long as you dont upset others holiday by not telling never been a problem Ann xxx
