Taken from ekathimerini - "EasyJet announced on Thursday that it will start a flight linking Edinburgh with Athens, the only direct air route between the two cities, in September.
“We are responding to customer demand, providing an even greater choice of city, sun and ski destinations from Edinburgh,” Hugh Aitken, easyJet’s commercial manager for Scotland, said in a statement.
Easyjet will also launch new flights linking Scotland’s capital with Tenerife and Grenoble.
The three times weekly service to Athens commences on September 20."
Seems EasyJet are still looking at new routes. The above should offer a winter alternative to the UK for those living north of the border

The demise of Globespan has severely restricted those of us up here, limited routes from Edinburgh or a 2 hour drive to Glasgow (roadworks and traffic jams dependant) ot 4 hours down to Newcastle, which, believe it or not is my preference, great wee airport, never really busy and easy to get around.
Wont be happy until someone starts doing Edinburgh - Corfu twice weekly year round

Fabulous news I have been wanting to go back to Athens for so long but the cost of travelling south to pick up a flight was too much. This makes it possible to have so many other options.
