I have just resubmitted my Avatar by inputtng the URL that I thankfully saved from before. Thankfully my Avatar is now back on view.

If you know the title of your Avatar then use the following URL in your profile to get your own pictures back.

www.agni.gr/message_boards/avatars/ (title or name of avatar/picture .jpg

Note: It sounds like something is wrong at the core end, as all or most avatars are using the above URL to get them into the system. Maybe!!!

If you cannot remember the URL, the best way still remains to save the original on your own computer and, should it disappear, upload it again.
For those who have linked direct to another site, (against our advice) should the avatar disappear then only you know where it was and are able to return it.

Thanks Mike, did not realise that. Anyway as you see mine is back, and the URL and picture saved for future use.

By the way, love the scroll bar at the bottom of your posts. Its like one of those Doctors Surgery things, .
