Can anyone please let us know if there are any festivals in Corfu in August.
We went to a great evening at the Monastery near Paleo in April this year. There was a huge lamb spit barbecue and Greek dancing which was great fun. The Greek Orthodox Priest led the dancing.

Thanks for replies to date. To janmanessi, our home is in the North West of the Island beyond Lakones and not far from Krini.
We are staying in Paleokastritsa for one night on Friday 13 August as our flight from Bristol arrives late.
Our departure date is late on 30 August - we also love live music and folk/rock bands. Are there any bars in the NW that have guitar or live music in the evenings?

There will be lots of festivals all over Corfu 15th August big holiday here. You should be able to find one near where you are staying ask at reception or bar when you arrive

There is the music festival in August at AG Ioannis near to Aqualand. It called Agiotfest and costs 20€. Is on the 27th and 28th August. Just google Agiotfest.

If you want local festivals just look at the banners across the road advertising the local 'panagiri'- there are loads, as one post says there are many on 15th August as this is the biggest holiday in Catholic and Orthodox countries- the Assumption of the Virgin- but until 23rd of August (when there is a lovely festival at Gastouri and another at Viros- and probably many others) you will find lots of authentic local celebrations. You don't have to pay anything just to join in and feel part of the community
