Andyroo, you are 100% correct. Greece needs the tourists (and tourism is down all over Greece this year) so what do they do, strike regularly either on ferries or flights. People who love Greece WILL return but people who aren't that interested - just want sea, sun and sand and a rest - will go elsewhere. Ergo, less tourists in the foreseeable future!!!

Denis
As far as changing flights from Sunday none showing on easyjet website for Saturday and a whopping £305-99 to fly on Monday
Now thats a big difference to my £97 I paid back in December
Think I will put up with the delay

Carol - I think what will happen is that if the strike goes ahead on Sunday EJ will cancel your flight at short notice and you will then have the option to rebook yourself on the next available flight or get a refund. I imagine the next flight is the Monday but whether or not they have available seats is another matter.

Careful guys. You'll have the rabib lefties out in force in support of the strikers with this sort of anarchy.
Can't think who they were now but a number of posters were out in support of the best paid cabin crew in the industry when they were striking.

Just saw a post on Tripadvisor which suggests that the "rolling 24 hr strikes" mean back to back 24 hour strikes which would mean an indefinite strike!!!

The Court has now ruled Sunday's strike illegal. See www.skai.gr
The Unions had previously said they would ignore any Court ruling (Ta Nea) so who know's what will happen now??
A continuous air strike would be a disaster for Greek tourism (final nail in the coffin). Having been directly affected by the ash cloud airport closures in April I know what this is like. Total chaos.

OMG! I booked our holiday 12 months ago and if they strike we're done for - but also so is the Greek tourist industry this year.
We're flying Monday 2nd, Jet2 out of EMA and they only fly once a week! I think we'd have to take a refund and go somewhere else - I can't not take the kids on holiday.
Everything crossed and prayers being said!

To be honest if I was not married to a Greek and didn't have family there and we were just looking for a family holiday destination I would be looking at Italy/Spain/Portugal.

The news sites are reporting that the strike has been deemed illegal by the Court and that the Unions are to meet again tomorrow to decide their position.
But www.livingingreece.gr is saying that the strikes have been called off but that the Union will continue with the work to rule which will cause delays.
