Help - noticed a few fellow Corfu regulars are going out in March/April 2005, can you advise where the flights are from?  I can't get any flights full stop!

Cheers

 Hi Di,

I am flying with Olympic from Gatwick on 5th April to Athens then to Corfu. Stop over time in Athens is about 4 hours.  Olympic fly from Gatwick on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday every week.

Hi

Charter flights don't really start untill the begining of May.  Prior to this, you are mainly on your own, via Athens!

Like Martyn says direct flights to Corfu do not begin till May. You will have to travel via Athens to Corfu. The only out of travel flights direct to Corfu are at Christmas and Easter. You are looking at £150 + for flights via Athen out of season.

How do you find the flights and prices for Olympic?

I don't need them at the moment but I would like to know for future reference. I've tried a couple of web sites but the only Olympic one I can find doesn't seem to give these details just a description of the airline etc.

Regards

Raine

Hi Raine, Is this the one you are using ? http://www.olympicairlines.com/

I've just tried it and it gave me both flight details and prices. You can also book online.

Thanks for that Trace! It's now been added to my favourites.

That wasn't the site I found through Google, mine was more business based.

Raine.

If it's just travel you need and you don't mind taking about 36hrs to get there one of the cheapest ways to get to Corfu out of season, is to fly to Venice with one of the cheap airlines for a few pounds then catch a 24hr ferry to Corfu as a foot passenger. The ferries are really comfy so it's not too bad! As i lived in Corfu for 5 yrs i have done this a number of times!!!

Hope this helps!!!

Andy

we to have that problem - before season flights is very expencive and take longer time. march 18-27th

we go from Norway 06.40 in the morning 09.25 from copenhagen and 16.00 from athens

cost about €600 each!

but it's worth it!!! 10 days free acomadation and meting friends!!

Andy,

The travel off-season to Corfu via Venice/ferry sounds great ... We too need to go there in March and April. We found the Brindisi ferries didn't travel out of season and/or were very expensive (£300 one way w/ car). Is there a website for the Venice ferry? Can you take a car or is only foot-travel allowed?

Thanks for the tip,

Eugenie

I have just had to pay £338 one way to get from teesside to Corfu, flying on 21st March arriving on 22nd..  I'm hoping to get a direct flight back in May.  My daughter got a return flight for 25 April flying from Heathrow for 274 staying for 2 weeks.

Hi All

Another cheap as chips option to corfu one way would be to get a Ryan Air flight to either Bari or Brindisi www.ryanair.com  then use the ferry (Aircraft seats) to Corfu.

The best airport would be Bari, then book ferry at: www.viamare.com (although many web sites)

For the return, I would agree with previous posters, use www.thomsonflights.com as you can book a one-way back from Corfu.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Maggie, if I can get a flight that cheap maybe my daughter will fly back with me. It will cost her that much to get home from London.

Hi Letha, the direct flights from Teesside  fly out on Fridays during summer season.  I am actually flying with olympic all the way but still have to go Teesside, London, Athens,Corfu. When we flew fom Teesside back in 1994 we found the airport charges were much more than from Newcastle.

Hi All......Hotel Telesilla was mentioned in an earlier thread......I had a pamphlet from there end of last season with 2004/2005 rates which stated low season May & June was 18 euro single room b&b........with that info I booked four nights on my recent trip in early March expecting to pay 18 euro or even less per night....................I was charged 30 euro per night and no breakfast....to get a cup of tea and 2 rounds of toast in the mornings I was charged an extra 3 euro .

We are coming out in May and again in July , out of principal we will not be staying at the hotel Telesilla !!!!!

Sorry for bad news..........John & Hilary

Hi John & Hilary.

In reply to your post, I have just looked at the link below, which shows the same rates list as you received. As you will see, the rate for the months you stated shows as €18 per person per night with Breakfast. With breakfast as you saying being €3 each, you were charged for the room only, €30.

Hope this clarifies the matter.

You're quite correct Sailor.

I travel myself quite alot, and have got used to interpreting advertised rates (and sometimes between the lines for supplements).

Basically the 18 Euro price would be based on two people sharing a room, and taking breakfast (15 Euro each without breakfast).

So effectively you were charged an under occupancy supplement  (For the "priviledge" of having the room to yourself).

I realise this may not always seem fair, but in many cases there's not much you can do about it.

I do believe that the winter rates advertised by this hotel still provide good value, even for us singles.
