Is anyone coming back to Corfu from America in the near future?
I need an iPad, and shipping one from the States will cost an extra $250 at least.
If anyone's looking to set up a business - set one up selling those things over here - they cost 399 used and they're selling for 800 euros plus on ebay in Europe...

Hello Oaf - I live in West Palm Beach, Florida and come to Corfu every few years - tell me what is involved with bringing or shipping the iPad and perhaps starting a small business venture. I have friends in Gouvia and will contact them to see if this is feasible...would LOVE to do this!! Last time I was in Gouvia was June 2007, but am looking for a way to stay there for at least 6 months this time. Been going there since 1978!! Let me know, please. Gosh! I can't believe you remember me - I haven't been on this site for at least three years - last time was prior to my visit to Corfu in 2007... My heartstrings are tied to Gouvia and Corfu Town since 1978 but I've only managed to make the trip 8 times in 30 years - not as often as I would like.
Do you think there's a market for iPads in Corfu? I don't think anyone really needs one or wants one there...would appreciate your thoughts. By the way, the photo of you on the beach with your arms outstretched (is that you?) is similar to my pose in my avatar...GMTA (great minds think alike) Love and light, Suzibren

Excuse me, but I didn't realize your name is Alison - I just saw the initials DCV and assumed the photo of the guy on the beach is you. I guess it's not. Sorry. Peace, Suzibren

"Hello there Suzibren...Long time no see!!!
Welcome back... ...K."
Hey Keira!! Truth be known, I've never left the site - I just haven't posted anything in a long while. I still check in often, but get sad when I see everyone's "countdowns" to their next visit usually weeks away, while I know my next visit won't be for a few years...But when I do arrive - look out world, 'cause Suzibren has come "home" to my beloved island once again...

Thanks for the offer of posting one, but the courier companies are nasty with parcels that arrive from outside the EU. Not only do they charge VAT on the value, but they like to add another 100+ euros on top in "admin fees". It seems the trick of writing "Gift" on the parcel doesn't word over here, either.
I don't think there's much of a market for iPads in Corfu itself, but there's definitely demand in Europe; if only from games developers like myself who need them for testing on, and have been left high and dry by Apple. I posted a message on Facebook, jokingly saying I'm getting on a plane to NY with a large suitcase - and I got a fair few "orders" just from that. I think there's a definite - albeit short term - demand via eBay.
Thanks Sarah, if you've room in your suitcase I'd love you to bring one over. I'll PM details.

Hi Oaf - I spoke with Apple Headquarters and I was told that they don't ship outside the U.S. directly. So there would be a lot of middlemen to deal with. Seems like it's more trouble than it's worth at this time - but I'll keep you in mind and should things change over at Apple, I'll let you know. Or, if I buy a ticket any time soon (Godwilling) Good luck with your business. Suzi
