Hi everyone myself and family are off to Corfu on May 3rd to celebrate my 30th. I am very concerned about the weather, I have had a look on a well know weather website and its showing rain and snow?!! I really am unsure what sort of clothes to pack and weather it will be warmer enough to sit around the pool in the day? Thanks fay

It can be hit and miss in May but not snow. Bring a jacket or cardi as it can be cool in the evening but you could get some rain. At the moment its nice and warm

Thank you. Am I getting a bit carried away if I pack summer dresses for my daughter and do you think the majority of time we can chill out around the pool or will it be too cold still. Also what is the situation with mozzies? I have been told there a lot around in May, I always get bitten and usually get infected bites, are they that bad or is it just some over cautious people telling me this!

Hi Fay...We always go in May and have been very lucky with the weather. You may need a cardi in the evenings if it gets a little chilly. I always use the following weather site and it's usually very accurate, just click on the link weather

May last year was scorching! But better be prepared with a light jacket/cardigan for evening - you never can be sure what it will be like till you get there

Sometimes these weather reports can be a bit confusing.
The report I use shows a pic of rainclouds for a day even if there is only trace amounts of rain(ie a 5 minute shower). The rest of the day its lovely and sunny!
The evenings can be cool compared to the days but we hardy northeners will be wearing our shirts and shorts all night while the locals will be wrapped up in their winter woolies.
If you check out the Kassiopi webcam you will see exactly what I mean.

We went on 2nd May last year and the weather was really hot during the day but very chilly of a night time, you will definitely need a jacket for the evenings, we even had the aircon switched on to heat in the night but glorious during the day, came back with a lovely tan, have a great time

Hi we always go May or October as we dont like it too hot. The days are usually sunbathing weather and as others have said will probable need a woolie for night time, but we always manage to dine out at night,so not that cold. In the four years we have been in May only had 2 days of rain, so been lucky. We go 7th of May so fingers crossed. One good thing about May dont seem to get same amount of mozzies as later in the year and you might see the wonderful fireflies, enjoy your holiday I am sure you will l o l Ann xx

I'm going on the 24th, never been this early, hope its nice weather. Will it still be cold in the evenings and what is the chance of rain? Been following the weather and it seems to be raining nearly every day.

Last six years second week May, have had one thunderstorm (a beaut, one flash and clap right overhead, was out on the golf course and ran like the clappers for the clubhouse, never been so wet in my life) and no other rain. Fingers crossed for this year.

Just because all my cabbages are lying flat on the ground, the flowerpots are God knows where, the driving rain has come in under the front door and I've been up most of the night listening to things banging and crashing around in the wind, doesn't mean summer isn't just around the corner!
At least we know that we really WILL have a BBQ summer!!
Chin up folks, the sun WILL return. We're just getting the rain out of the way before you all come to visit!!.

Not a lot in truth!! Even more so because the days when there was some 'certainty' to the weather in various parts of the Globe seem to be rapidly disappearing.
Corfu has never quite come into the 'certainty' category very often throwing-up some quirky weather conditions - part of June last year comes to mind!
You've only got to look at some of the poor weather recently in Spain and Portugal to see that predicting the weather in May or any other month is becoming a dodgy business!!
It's a shame but as John says - what can you do?!!

Hi David,
I think you will find that he is using smileys that are not always compatible with this site. I find that the best ones to use are the ones above the Post Reply box, they don't seem to get marmelised.

Hi John,
The ones I use are the ones above the Post Reply box. However, I don't copy and paste, I just click on the smiley icon and it then brings up a selection of smileys for you to choose from, I then click on the smiley I want and it transfers to the post.
Could it be that you have smileys downloaded from elsewhere which are taking over?
Only an idea as I am useless with computers.

Well John, after a nice afternoon the forcast was correct as it's blowing a hooly again now and there are large white horses on the sea. I just looked at the forcast for the ash cloud, are you sure your friends are going back on Monday??

Well it isn't wet or windy here in Kinopiastes, Graham. It is bright sunshine and the airport is also bathed in sunshine (well Kanoni is - I can't see the actual airport). Maybe it will head south as the evening progresses...but it often dissipates before it hits Ag. Deka.
One good thing is that I don't have to water the plants tonight (my glass is always half full rather than half empty!) Ti na kanoumai?
