I have a couple of holidays booked with a local travel agent and they have asked me to provide a copy of my passport for the new Advanced Passenger Information which they say is required before you can fly.
I haven't a problem with this, anything that keeps us safe is welcomed but I have booked online for Corfu in June with Thomas Cook and I haven't been asked for this information from them. Has anyone else come across this yet?

Yes I have used Easyjet before and they always require API before you travel but my travel agent says that now all airlines require this information and Thomas Cook haven't asked me for it.

Thanks for the link, I have now completed my API, I wonder if/when they would have informed me about this info, I would have been unaware of it if I hadn't booked another holiday with a local travel agent.

Yes we've had to provide API with easyjet too. I've also recently booked a holiday through the local travel agent and I've had a phone call asking me to take API when I pay the balance.

elizajay, did you book online or with an agent? If you booked with an agent they should be asking you for your API, if like me you booked online then you are responsible for providing the information. I think this is still in its infancy so the API may be dealt with at checkin, but I like to be organised so have done it myself. If you follow Bruce's link it will guide you through some very straightforward steps, you'll need your booking ref and the passports of all the people travelling, it asks you for full name, DOB, gender, passport number, passport expiry date, county of issue and country of residence.
The pages are quite slow to load, at the end you get the chance to recap and print.
You've got nothing to lose by doing this yourself, it may speed up checking process if everyone does.
