I really don't think these refer to the standard till receipts but to timologia and apothixis (both difficult words to write in Latin letters!) These should always be collected if they are for things that can be used for tax purposes

I'm not sure Jan. This is a quote from the article.....
"The measure on receipts is designed to clamp down on tax evasion by forcing retailers to issue valid cash register receipts for their sales, as well as allowing tax authorities to randomly crosscheck receipts with actual sales declared in corresponding VAT returns.
Papakonstantinou said that cash registers would now have to be installed in all businesses, including gas stations, kiosks, outdoor markets and taxis.
“Consumers will now be motivated to require receipts for their every transaction,” he said."
.....That sounds like all receipts to me.

Surely that is to stop retailers tax evasion, rather than customers.
I remember when the law came in years ago that all businesses had to have cash registers- some small shops actually closed because they couldn't afford to install them.
I suppose market stalls and similar managed to evade it then by some loophole which has now been closed.
As GUV1 and I said earlier- shop keepers always try and get you to leave their shop with a receipt- in case the police check, as they are liable if you cannot produce one.

At the moment it applies to normal receipts - the quality of receipts was discussed a couple of weeks ago on the news and it was recommended to keep them in an envelope to help prevent fading. This may help a little but I'm sure they will still eventually fade. I reckon in a few months they will pop up with another idea instead

How will this effect us when we come out to live in Corfu in a couple of years time? Obviously we will bring our furniture etc with us, but over the years I have bought items 'for Corfu' and not kept the receipts! Is it just for items purchased in Greece??
