aA I live near Lavinia, and it works for her I am hoping that my wasps will react to the waspinator I bought today at Lakeland- plus three more for friends- my luggage contains an even weirder selection than usual this trip!

I think the answer is put the waspinator up early as I said in my previous post. Last year I put mine up in my grape vine in May and on my return in September there were NO wasps anywhere near the ripe fruit

Have to agree with Maggie on this one!
Wasps are a high summer nuisance and a home made wasp catcher is by far the most effective remedy.
I don't know what its like near Corfu town - but up here in the north west - we only have a wasp problem in the garden when the vines are producing (August/September).
As Maggie says - a 5 litre plastic bottle with holes bored in the sides - a kithcen role holder inserted through with a hole to let the wasps in - orange juice or honey in the bottom and the wasps are attracted instantly.
Their biology says that they have to fly upwards to escape - but cannot because the lid is on. Bit of a slow painful death as they drown in orange juice - but effective.
The other benefit is that you are re-using and re-cycling shopping waste and not buying more plastic.
For visitors to the island - try it with a water bottle and bog roll middle - simple but effective!
For better explanations and diagrams - look it up on a recycling site - good wasp hunting!

I've just placed an order for a Waspinator so will let you know how I get on with it in the UK.
As for the wasp trap, these have been around for years but the best one we saw was in Thassos, using small pieces of hosepipe instead of kitchen roll and with the added attraction of a sardine hanging from the bottle top (inside) Irresistible to wasps!!

Hi, put up two waspinators around March have not been bothered by any. Today as we were going out the front door saw a wasp go to the door frame (aluminium d/glazed) it had started to build a nest on the frame in site of the waspinator-cheeky blighter! Destroyed the nest and the wasp will keep a lookout in future. Still think they work to a certain extent though
