Does anyone know of a modern quality kitchen designer/supplier on the island. We have nearly finished our villa on the road up from Sinies to Porta and need a kitchen!

We had ours made to order by an excellent carpenter, Yannis, from Nimfes, He will take you to some of his sites to show you the quality. He not only made our kitchen but all the bedroom furniture as well as the beds, I showed him a photo on a couple of beds we likes and he said, ‘I can make that for you’ and he did. If it’s made of wood he made it for us, the only thing he couldn’t do was the dining chairs, we had to order them separately. Top quality workmanship. You can call him on 697 834 4780. There is a big carpenters co-operative just along the main road to Kassiopi. It is on the right hand side a few hundred yards along the road after the turning up to Porta. If you have a photo/brochure of the type of kitchen you want then just take it into them and they will be able to measure up and give you quote. They do any type of carpentry in there.
Kitchen suppliers as we know it in the UK are very few and far between. Most people just get their kitchen/wardrobes etc. built by the local carpenter. There are one or two kitchen places on Corfu but only tend to have small showrooms.
If you take a look at my photos you will see our kitchen made by a Greek carpenter who is from the west of the island. Our builder organised this for us because that was the carpenter he always uses. However I have seen a lot of work done by the Sinies co-operative and the quality is excellent although I think a little more expensive.

Thank you for your response. I think I know where you mean. We went there to look at internal doors and were quoted over 1500 euros per door and as we needed 10 doors decided to look elsewhere!!
We actually ended up with a great carpenter father and son team from Acharavi who did the doors for less than half that price!
Don't think they do kitchens though!

Wooden doors are phenomenally expensive on Corfu! We even thought about shipping some over but the doorways are all odd sizes so in the end we decided to get what our budget afforded.
I seem to remember that there are a couple of kitchen shops in Corfu Town that sell those very glossy kitchens.

I'm also scouting about for a good carpenter around the Ano Korakiana area. Going to visit Sadro in Ipsos one day, when I feel like I can take the shock of the prices!

The kitchen units including soild wood worktops and fitting came to 4500euro which I didn't think was too bad. The appliances, sink and tap were extra of course.
I don't mind putting the price on the open forum so others can get an idea of prices.

Hi Yes I agree with the suggestion of carenter from Nymfes he really reliable and he is putting a new floor and ceiling in and building our kitchen and stairs,our solid wood outside door painted corfu green on outside and white inside ( painted is sprayed on its very smooth finish) and glass was only €1300 fitted including surround and handles etc

I can fully endorse the carpenters from Nymfes - they designed and fitted a solid wood kitchen for us in 2000, made and fitted all the stairs, new doors, window frames, wooden overmantle for the fire and made me a beautiful linen chest from scratch. I can't praise them enough. If I could have dismantled that kitchen and taken it to France when we moved I would have done so with no qualms and I wish I could get them over to Ireland to replicate it!
