I would definately go to Kalami/Agni.  Kalami is very quiet and peaceful and the villas there are superb.  The apartments are also just as good.

At night time the bulk of the Kalami nightlife (sorry should that be the only nightlife?! lol) is at the Cocktails and Dreams Bar at the Adonis and Asonitis Apartments.  We have had many good nights there.

The Tavernas are of very good quality around the Kalami/Agni/Kourloura area and Kalami even boasts Lawrence Durrell's White House which is now accomodation and a Taverna.

Corfu is a beautiful island all round but to me Kalami/Koulora/Agni are the most special.

Good Luck!

Regards,

Im going to agree again with Nat - Kalami is the only place we would ever stay when we are in Corfu, even though the whole island is beautiful.   Kalami bay has no hotels, only rooms and apartments, and there are only two bars.  One, the Cocktails and Dreams has some form of entertainment every night, but the other one is very quiet indeed.  Kassiopi is only about 10-15 mins drive by car in one direction, and Ipsos 20-30 mins drive in the other direction.  Kalami's scenery is absolutely stunning, and I dont think I have ever in all the years I have been visiting met anyone there who wouldnt go again - apparently it has the highest number of "Repeat Offenders" of any resort anywhere!  There are some  fantastic tavernas, and the ones in the next bay - Agni - have a little boat that takes you and brings you home afterwards.  Fantastic - I cant recommend the place highly enough.  Just take a look at the Kalami messageboard and you will understand why we all love it so much!

Yes, Kalami certainly is a beautiful place, but the large Adonis and Asonitis apartments that now dominate the village may not exactly be everyones cup of tea.......personally, I try and avoid somewhere that does mass organised entertainment (Karaoke, quizzes, live football, copy blockbuster films and the likes every day) like the plague. Then again, if that's what you're looking for........each to their own. One thing I can say about the bar (Cocktails and Dreams as mentioned earlier), is that the staff are all very friendly.

The rest of Kalami certainly is very charming (and does have a romantic air), gives wonderful opportunities for walking (if that's something you like) and as has been said, isn't far in a taxi from Kassiopi for a much wider choice of restaurants and the option of a good choice of varied nightlife for those nights when you have more energy!

Mike, where did you visit on Corfu when you were there two years ago ?

I would recommend Agios Gordis. It is not very busy but it has a cosy atmosphere. We go there every year (this year will be the 5th time) so you can imagine that we like it there.

It has a nice beach, plenty of good restaurants and a busservice to Corfu town.

As you can see from today's webcam, Agni takes a lot of beating in the romantic stakes! As others have already said, the Agios Stefanos (NE)/Kerrasia/ Avlaki areas are also lovely - Ag Sref also has a coctail bar and these places are not too far from Kassiopi for a bit of night life.
