Sorry if this has already been covered (not been on the site for ages and have looked but can't find a thread about it). We received notification from Nationwide that as from June 1st, they are going to start charging for taking money out abroad, my husband says something like £2.50 each transaction (he can't find the letter). Not good news!

It doesn't apply to Greece (nor it seems to any/many EU countries), but if you are concerned here is a link to the Nationwide site which has more detailed info:
The charges that Nationwide are making are because of Visa - this does not apply to Europe which remains the same - no charge.

Agreed Artisans - we have just come back from France and paid everything by Nationwide visa - Flex a/c - we got 1.14 - no charges, no commission. Best deal of the lot.

They also give you below the bank rate so even though you can withdraw for free they make up for it on the rate.

I thought if you used a nationwide card you got a good rate of exchange?
