Hoping to come out to Corfu Christmas time - anyone got any info on cheap(ish) Direct flights to Corfu - I noticed there were some last year, but (unless I have missed something) I haven't seen anything this year

Cheers

Hi Denise,

I think your will find, after the end of October, early November, there is no direct flights to Corfu from the UK. The only way to get to the island is via Athens, then a flight over to Corfu, Easyjet does a flight to Athens, but the best way according to previous topics is using Olympic Airways to Athens then another internal OA flight to Corfu. You dont even have to bother about your luggage on the change over.

The other way is to fly to Venice or Brindisi in Italy, and get the ferries across to Corfu. From Venice it takes about 23 hours, and from Brindisi, about 13 hours. You might have to change ferries at Igoumanitsa to get to Corfu.

There is also a coach from Athens to Corfu via a ferry, this takes about 12 hours or so.

If you need any further help, please ask.

Hi' Denise,

Take a look at http://www.greece-cyprus.co.uk/index.htm

Also, I had an email from Sue at face=Comic Sans MS color=#606420 www.corfucastaway.com who told me that she hopes to have the details within the next few days of Christmas flights, usually a duration of 2 and a half weeks from Gatwick and perhaps Manchester.  Contact her and she will email you when she has the confirmed details.

Good luck, I'm hoping that perhaps the rumour of a New Year flight is confirmed!

Hi Denise

Eileen is correct - there a small number of charters around Christmas.  These are, I think, arranged for people leaving Corfu and flying to the UK, but of course, they have to get there in the first place.  Sue at Castaway is a good bet, as suggested above, or you could try Ian Smith @ Spears Travels on 01442 866616 or e-mail @ ian.smith@spear-travels.co.uk

Best of luck

Martyn

Hi,

On a similar subject, I think that the Greek Orthodox Easter is 1st May next year, and we intend to go if possible as it is a wonderful time, in fact more special for the locals than christmas. However the direct flights seem all to start in May. Does anyone know of companies which start slightly earlier? Say ~28th-30th April?

I know that around 1-2 years ago there was a small campaign to try to get winter flights to Corfu, especially with easyjet, but I have not heard how and indeed if this is going.

Cheers

Paul

Julia,

Thanks for that.

I knew I had seen the dates for the Christmas flights somewhere, that serves me right for giving away my copy of the Corfiot.

I'm going to email allwaystravel now and  hopefully I will get more information on the flight for the 28th.
