I am new to Corfu, have been to Zante for the past 3 summers to Tsilivi but fancy a change. I am after a resort with a fab beach, clear sea but some lively nightlife. Not clubs, just some lively bars to keep us entertained!! I go with my partner, I am 23 but dont want 18-30s. someone mentioned Sidari but the beaches don't look the best with seaweed etc and it might be a little too lively. Please advise asap!!! Tahnks!!!

As I have been to Tsilivi myself I would say maybe Kassiopi just a smaller version of Tsilivi but they do not have nice sandy beaches more pebbles at Kassiopi.
Why not look at Acharavi, Roda, Kassiopi or San Stef - they are all wonderful resorts with lovely beaches (some shingle and sand though) - Kassiopi is lively in the summer months but all wonderful friendly resorts.
I personally love Sidari for the R & R and nightlife but everyone had different tastes.
Wherever you decide - enjoy yourself - i'm sure you'll fall in love with the wonderful island.

Hi Rachel,
Have a look a Agios Gordios, it has so much to offer. Yes, it does have an 18-30 element to it but this is mainly restricted to the Pink Palace complex. To the best of my knowledge they have never caused any problems in the resort.
On the plus side, how much time do I have to say ALL that is good about the resort. There is a great range of Taverna's, Resturant's and other food outlets with a taste to suit almost everyone. If you have a requirement to have interner connection there are FREE Wi-Fi and Free Broadband locations. There is a long sandy beach with a lifeguard on duty during the high season. Visit one of the beach side locations towards dusk and see what is possibly the best sunset you have ever seen.
The resort has very good bus links to Corfu Town. Spend a day or more exploring the maze of streets in the Old Town. Sit in a location on Liston and watch the world go by whilst sipping your drink. There are many outlets serving Spinach pies or Pitta Gyros. Try them it is something you will remember. If you visit by bus you must try NIKO's, a typical Kafeneon opposite the top end of the bus station. It is typical Greek, open 365 days a year for the locals. You are sure to get a warm welcome there.
The Green Bus service is very good so why not use it to visit other parts of the island at low cost of you wish not to drive. Here is a link to the bus timetable, http://www.corfunet.com/corfu/transport/green_bus.php
Agios Gordios is more than a resort, it is a community. Most visitors there visited once, caught the bug and have returned time and time again. Regular visitors and all the locations in the resort try to make EVERY new visitor feel very special. Give us a try, you will find out why we all return.
Yammas, Colin.

Hi Rachel,
Must agree with Colin he's the expert on the village. We have caught the Aghios Gordios bug. Mal and I have been here for the past 5 summers and we go agin this August. We stay at the Angelica with Spiros and Angelica. Stunning scenery and beautiful beach. Never seen the 18-30 crowd and we are not too far from the Pink Palace! We adore this resort and the people are so friendly.
Why not try Dassia, i think it would suit your needs - Long stretch of beach with plenty of water sport activities, assortment of bars, shops and restuarants. No noisy nightclubs but plenty of lively bars to choose from for your evening entertainment. Check out www.artemiscorfu.com for further info.
Regards
Karen

Ag G is fantastic but if you want to explore the island, I don't think it's ideal. Also you have to consider the VERY strong undercurrents at Ag G which can be dangerous if you aren't a good swimmer. The beach there is the only one on the island with life-guards.
From Sidari, you can go to Arillas, Paleo and St Spryridon beach and obviously hiring a car will give you the freedom to explore. There are some nice bits of beach in Sidari and the nightlife is good there. Kassiopi doesn't have a beach.
From Sidari you can book excursions all over the island and if you use the local tour shops as opposed to the tour operators, you will keep your costs down and get great value for money.

Have they removed them since June 2007? Last time I was there they had at least two. They may be pebble & shingle (keeps the water clear) rather than sand but they are definitely there.
Neither are local tourist offices offering excursions and other tourist facilities (currency exchange, car hire, etc) exclusive to Sidari. Almost every resort on the island has at least one.
To RachM:
Sidari is a large resort on the north coast. Although a lot of younger people go there is is also very popular with families. One of the reasons for that is the large sandy beach. It is perhaps not the most picturesque resort on Corfu but it does have those interesting rock formations, some nice shops and the nightlife you want.
Wherever you decide, I hope you have a great holiday.

We spent a lovely day with several members of this site in Kassiopi last summer......and we swam at the lovely cove to the right of the harbour (if you were standing looking out to sea). We have also spent the day at the beach at the which you reach if you take the road to the left of the harbour....and from there we could see a long sandy beach....sorry dont know the names of these beaches as we've never stayed in kassiopi, but we love to spend many a day there! Swimming and sunbathing on the beaches LOL

Welcome to the site Rach. Just up the road from Sidari is Canal d'Amour. Nice beaches, quiet if you want it, Sidari strip (more Kalamaki than Laganas) a 10 minute walk away and the Orchard Taverna on your doorstep.

There always seem to be a couple of life-guards patrolling the beach in the summer months at Glyfada and there is one stationed at Dasia too.
By the way I agree with Karen, Dasia would be a good choice. If you want something livelier one evening you can easily visit neighbouring Ipsos. The beach, whilst not stunningly beautiful like Glyfada, is certainly very lovely in its own right. It is sand/shingle, very safe, shelves gently and has wonderful views all around.

Hi Rach, I have also holidayed in Tsilvi, stayed at Zante Maris hotel right on the beach, I loved it there, hotel, resort - island. We go to Corfu most years and always stay in Ipsos/Pyrgi, beach is ok - shingle, resort is probably about same size as Tsilvi, plenty of restaurants & bars, nightlife can be as lively or as quiet as you want, few bars which stay open to the early hours!, would not go in August as this very busy and very lively. We mainly go for the people there, which I am sure all Corfiots are the same, reason why many people go back again & again to the first resort they stay & fall in love with. I am sure which ever resort you choose will be lovely and you will have a great time. .................. Let us all know where you choose to go.

Only having stayed in Ag. Gordis and Arillas I can honestly say both are great places to stay, although Ag. Gordis is small it does have a bit more of a lively atmosphere. I must agree with previous comments though about the undercurrents being very strong in Ag. G. and care would be needed.. and there is also a lifeguard in Arillas too. We stayed next door to the Pink Palace Hostel in Ag. Gordis and one or two nights were a bit loud with kids jumping into the pool and making a racket late at night/early mornings there was never any problems but we did go in September so perhaps they had all gone back to college/uni by then.
Arillas is much quieter, with only two bars and the rest tavernas/restaurants which is why we like to go there.

I will be 22 when i go to kassiopi and my friend will be 23! We have been going there for years and usually go 4 times a year lol
we like lively but on holiday we dont look for 18-30's either!
kassiopi is lively in the summer and there is more than enough bars and clubs to keep you entertained!!
Passions and mirror stay open till around 6-7am passion is a mixture of everyting your cheesy/holiday/popular/r & b music etc , Here they also do themed nights such as beach nights / foam partys etc
Mirror - does alot of greek music however in high season(june, july, aug) id say more english music is played thank greek!
All the bars stay open till the last person leaves lol
The beaches are pebbly but they are really clean and for a couple of euros you can get the boat to the sandy beach which only takes about 10mins!
I would defnatley recomend kassiopi!
If you want any more information ill be more than happy to help
