Can any one shed some light on this mystery please.  On our first visit (or maybe second) I remember we walked along the main beachm in Sidari and discovered one of our favourite watering holes (Napoleons) but I seem to remember walking further up over the concrete bridge I think maybe past Sidari Beach hotel I remember vividly seeing a little taverna - a very small taverna with blue and white little chairs outside and they were advertising a greek night, I mentioned this to my partner who does not seem to remember it at all and is sure I am imagining things!! wereas me being me beg to differ - so If anybody could shed some light on this mystery I would be most greatful - plus me thinks I'm not going that mad either and I do have a little grey matter left!!!!!!!

I can remember this little restaurant and the owner although I cannot remember his name.  The place was really run down and abandoned for a couple of years or so but last year I saw that someone had taken over the land etc. and was in the process of 'doing it up' possibly with a view to opening it again.  The owner was a little man who did all the cooking.  When I visited with a friend, he cooked up so many dishes in such a small space of time, it was amazing.  He also kept everyone entertained with his dancing.  He told us he had restaurants in Germany.  I have heard a few stories about his demise but YOU WERE NOT DREAMING, it did exist.  He even had vegetables growing in the garden at the back and the kitchen was open plan so you could watch him cook.

Thanks Rachel - I knew I wasn't imagining it!!!!!! Did you say it has been taken over? Do you know if it has re-opened as a taverna?

The one I mean, was the one with the multi-coloured chairs - just up the road from the Shipwreck restaurant...... I think it is El Greco.

Michelle, El Greco is just before you get to the Beach Star, but next door to Orestis which are owned by the man who owns Beach star too, and its just up from Napoleons....

No, it's not Canal D'Amour - we do get out occasionally - even if it's just down the Megali beach end!!!!!!

Napoleons is one of the first places, then the supermarket, then the Shipwreck, then El Greco.

Yes I think you will find it is El Greco, have not been there to eat for a few years. It used to be run by a 'smooth' looking Greek with quite long swept back hair (sometimes in a Pony tail) and a VERY blonde english lady partner. The chairs were blue and other colours on the patio at the front with check tablecloths. Greek dancing used to happen twice a week, full show with plate smashing, fire dancing etc. and all diners following them in a 'congo' like dance onto the beach. The greek dancing was the highlight of what they had one offer and usually was a great night out. Shipwreck restuarant is way past it and has only been in existance for 2-3 years wheras El Greco has been there for at least 11 years to my knowledge.

Regards Sylvia

Thanks for that sylvia - that certainly sounds like the place I saw!!!

LOL Orchard sorry dear I completely lost my bearings when you said the Shipwreck I was thinking of that smugglers cove looking restaurant near to angelinas (me thinks!!!)

So I'll blame you for confusing me - (mind you doesn't take much to get me confused)

Sounds like a good plan Darren but with one tiny flaw. If mushypea has a half in EVERY taverna, the next post we'll see will be something like..... "Can anyone help me by holding Sidari still for long enough for me to find my accommodation?"

Paul
