Has anyone out there seen any of the wooden homes built by placesinthesun? I have made contact with Steve who has said he would show us round next time we're there. Would like to know what they're like to keep cool in summer & warm in winter. I know someone was going in July but can't find the thread.

Kev.

Hi Kev

Placesinthe sun are not building them, they are agents for the builder. We have not seen a fully completed house but have seen a partially completed house being built for a Greek couple and can say that the level of insulation used is very good. Winter usage requires some form of central heating and the builder offers several solutions depending upon size of property. Wood is a natural insulator anyway and the house we viewed, although basically a shell was quite cool inside without any air condtioning installed and it was a very hot day.

Hi Kev

We too have been in touch with Steve at 'placesin the sun' he gave us a approx price of £60,000 for a 2 level 140 sq mts home, the original thread is 'WOODEN CHALET'

We will be seeing him in July/Aug to see what he has to offer will use this thread to give our views on what he has to say.

Hi All,

I doubt we will be able to get back to Corfu this summer and I only wish I'd have used this information to see the houses when I was there in May. Look forward to hearing the views from anyone who does get to see them. It seems an interesting alternative to a traditional build and also a more affordable one.

Kev.

Hi all

Just spoken to the builder and he now does several standard designs plus the land to match. Cuts down a bit on the ability to design you own home but makes the process easier and hopefully keeps the costs down.

hi there

This looks very interesting indeed. Can they withstand any earth tremors
or earthquakes and where are the regulations that govern how strong
they should be?

Nick
