Hi Everyone I am new to this forum, but let me first say what a fantastic website.

I have one question really, we were looking to book our holiday for2005 (i know a long way off but like to book early) in Corfu and were looking to stay at the Blue Bay Escape Resort in St Spiridon.  Having checked the forum out here I am little concerned that the age group of the children using it are very young.

We are looking to go the 2nd week of July (when my daughter finishes her GCSE's), my daughter and her friend will be 16. We were looking for something along the lines of 4 star accommodation, must be two bed apartments.  We don't want anything where it is over built, but close enough for the girls to walk back to a night from where ever they decide to party!

Can anyone recommend another resort apart from the BBE, but which is of a high standard?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Karen

Hi Moonstar,

As you will be aware, the Blue Bay Escape is primarily an 'All-Inclusive' resort, is that what you wanted? Also I don't think that it is within easy walking distance of any towns where there is any partying to do! (I have only driven past it once so I may be wrong on that score)

If you aren't too worried about being 'AI' I would suggest that you try any of the travel companies for resorts such as Roda, Cassiopi, Paleocastritsa. Ipsos or Dassia.  (I'm sure that other will have their suggestions)

Alternatively if the standard is important, why not try a small villa in or near any of the above towns. It may be worth checking with Sofri in the Agni Travel office (e-mail sofri@agni-travel.com), or alternatively checking with the Villa companies such as Meon, CV, Something Special or Travel A-La-Carte.

I hope that this helps.

Let us know how you get on when you get back.

Hi Moon Star

I'm not to sure but Sidari or Gouvia would be safe bets. They are both quite lively resorts with bars etc and Gouvia is not to built up. You can read more on them and other resorts at the link below. Wherever u choose u will have a great time.

I would also recommend Kassiopi. As a resort I think it strikes a reasonable bablence - a pretty harbour, some genuine Greek life and plenty of facilities geared to tourism. No need for a car except if you want to explore inland. Also taxis to other night spots are reliable, safe and not too expensive.

Hi

You might like to take a look at the Rose Garden appartments in San Stefanos NW.  Be careful there are 2 the other on has no beach.

There are only 11 apartments on the site and it feels like you are in the middle of the country but you are only 10 mins walk for the beach.

They are spotlessy clean and the sheets and towels are changed twice a week and there is aircon in all rooms.

The gardens and pool are lovely and do not get crowded.

All the pools in Corfu are free to all but because the Rose Garden is a little off the main drag into town so not many people go there so there is no fight for the sun beds.

The Manager is very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for her.  She will keep the bar open as long as you whant her to and then be up the next day to cook breakfast should you want it.  Her Greek night BBQ's are to die for and great fun with traditional dancing be prepaired to join in.

The resort is very quiet but there are a lot af bars and restaurants enough to try a different one every night in 2 weeks and still be some left over.

If your daughter is looking for nightclubs then she won't find one, but there are many livley bars to try.  The Rose Garden is not to far away from the centre of the resort and I think it would be very safe for them to walk home on their own.

The beach is large and safe as its shallow and there are a few water sports for them to try.

There are not many shops but many well stocked supermarkets in town.  A day trip to Corfu Town is a must if you like shopping.

If you like the sound of this you can book the Rose Garden only with First Choice hoildays therefore you only get brits staying there.

It realy is worth a look at as it's the best place we've stayed in for the price

I hope you find something nice enjoy your holiday.

Hi Mair,

So as to help those going to Agios Stephanos NW, and/or the Rose Gardens I have placed a copy of your post above into the appropriate forum, but left your original post in this forum and topic (Where best to stay).

Best Wishes.
