We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Lakka. We stayed at Bastas Hotel. Lakka is a lovely place despite the roadworks. We hired a car for 3 days and spend some time down at Mongonissi that too is stunning with a sandy beach. We swam in the sea every day. The scenery is fantastic wherever you go.

Wherever we went on Paxos we were not disappointed. The weather was fantastic-no clouds and in the early 30's every day.

In the evenings the fireflies gave a marvellous show.

Tavernas and shops are still opening up each day getting ready for the season, but we just loved it there.

Hi J&K

Sounds fantastic!

We're going to Loggos a week on Friday (May 25) for 2 weeks. Can't wait!

Did you see Loggos? What's it like? I've heard lots about it. Do you think we'll still see fireflies? Any trips you'd recommend?

So excited!

Phil

Loggos is a beautiful little village & bay. We visted it a couple of times. Its a sleepy little place. You can hire small boats if your adventurous and explore the east side of the island.

Some people in our accommodation went on a round island trip which started in Loggos and called off on Antipaxos-everyone said it was good.

I don't think you will be disappointed with Paxos. We would advise some rubber shoes if you like swimming in the sea, it helps with the pebbles.

Not sure whether te fireflies will still be there, i hope they are for you because they are magical. Its best if you can get out of any lighting, they seem to like the Olice Trees.

Any how do have a good time, we certainly did.

Hello Moggie

Yes this is a really great web site.

We did not eat in Gaios as we were styaing in Lakka. We did not have a bad meal in Lakka and there are various Tavernas - one good value notable one was the Arriva right on the harbour side - excellent value and service.

Just enjoy your holls and this web site.

I wish we was there now

Hi J&K

Thank you. Really hope we see some fireflies!

Lots of people have said we must do Antipaxos. Sounds like it might be a busy place, but it would be a shame not to go.

Glad you had a good holiday and enjoyed Paxos.

I undestand Bastas has had a bit of a face lift this Winter. I saw the new chairs for downstairs being delvered in April and understand there are even shower curtains now - not something I am bothered about to be honest.

The locals had hoped the roadworks would be finished for the season and when I was there business owners were doing their best to help fill the holes in to try to be ready for the first real batch of visitors. Is the giant sandcastle/ toilet for cats still in the car park? Should be just about finished by now but it has been necessary to ensure the villages get the new desalinated water and improve the sewage, so it will be worth it in the end. Let's hope all the visitors understand this and don't let it put them off.

Anti Paxos only get busy in August and the afternoon when the daytrip boats arrive. Most from Corfu just pull in for half an hour or so for a swim. As well as round island trips you can get a boat direct from Gaios for reasonable rate. Belive it or not for such a tiny island there are now 4 tavernas, 2 on each sandy beach. 1 is quite a climb, but worth the views. It is worth having an explore inland too, only a cuple of raods/tracks and you can't get lost.

Hi Tina B

The road works were in full swing last week, but think they are about to finish. Didn't worry us mind you. Yep the bus stop was still a giant set of sandcastles, but who cares we didn't. Wish we were still there.

If someone could arrange thousands of fireflies, first week of June, I'd be awfully grateful. Thanks.

Bidi.
