Hi Ray.

I am interested. I have the Palmair  Flight Only Brochure in front of me, and on the Wednesday flight to Corfu it shows the cheapest price at 229, and the max at 259. Please let me know how you get it for 99 mate.

I have a price for our normal hotel booking direct through them, but I have yet to find a flight than can make the whole price cheaper than through our normal TO. This flight price would make a vast difference, and make our group very happy, specially if we can go from Bournemouth.

Cheers mate.

Best Wishes.

Hi Sailor

Don't know if this helps as it's quite a drive for you, but www.firstchoice.co.uk, are currently offering evening flights at £164 or £147 and lovely day time flights at £184, from Gatwick, mid July when I'm going. They do a £15 discount if booked on line.

Hi Sue.

Thank you very much for that information. We normally go from Gatwick with our usual TO, as we are this year. Its about a 2 hour minibus ride from Bournemouth. So I will take note of this info in planning for next year, but I will have to see what they have for August, as the work most of us do, only permits us to holiday in that month. Good prices though. Thanks again.

Best Wishes.

It might be worth you having a look at these two sites.  Firstly

www.excelairways.com and http://www.skyscanner.net

Excel are a carrier that serves a lot of Meditteranean destinations.  The predominantly fill their planes with charter seats, tour operators buy the seats.  However the do sell on their website as well.  I go a really good daytime flight to Bastia in Corsica for £120 in late June.  They have really nice planes, with leather seats!!!  I also flew with them the last time I flew into Corfu about 3 years ago.

The other site is a site which has all the cheap no frills airlines on it, all in one place, so is quite a useful site.

I had a look at the Excel site this morning, and there were one or two reasonable flights on certain dates to Corfu, but obviously not as cheap as some of the rock bottom prices you can pick up to Spain etc.

Just a quick aside about Excel.  We flew with them about 5 days after 9/11, and on the way back 2 weeks later, we were held up for about 1 1/2 hours on the tarmac at Corfu.  This was no fault of theirs.  What had happened, someone had issued an extra boarding ticket to one family, so it appeared that there was luggage on the plane, but an empty seat to go with it.  A lot of enquiries were made, the luggage was offloaded onto the tarmac.  Profuse apologies from the captain.  He was on the point of getting everyone to get off and link up with their baggage.  It was finally discovered what had happened, and we didn't have to do that.  However, to get to the point of the story, what my friends and I found amazing was how many people were sitting there complaining, very vocally, much swearing etc.  The captain had explained why he had to tally the tickets with passengers, but they just could not understand that it was for all our sakes.  Sadly, sometimes people have very short memories - you can imagine who they would have been blaming if someone had planted something on the plane!! I know it is an unlikely scenario, but very strange things happen in these troubled times!!!

Good luck with your search guys!

Lynne

Hi Lynne.

Thanks for the information on the cheap flight sites, very helpfu for future reference. Your follow up story is a very poignant subject, which as you said people tend to forget very quickly. I very often cringe when I hear the way people react to matters like this, and in particular when it concerns their safety. Perhaps it is my military discipline that helps. I would have shook the pilots hand for what he had to do.

Best Wishes.

Hi Sailor

I must admit that I went out of my way to thank the crew and the 1st officer, even though it held up the line of people trying to leave the plane, just wanted to thank them for dealing with the problem in the way they did.  I don't mind making myself unpopular with people if I feel strongly about something!

I doubt there would have been many of them complaining to anyone if someone had planted something on the plane............unless it was to St Peter of course. From the sound of the people you describe this would have been a distinct possibility.

Cor - I could fly out and surprise Lynn for that money (she's flying out from Heathrow to Corfu via Athens on Thursday).  I guess the rest of the family (being left at home) wouldn't be too pleased though.

Hi Sailor

They are great prices. If we took it up i think it would be end up being more then a flight from a local airport because of the prices to get down to Bourmeth.

I wish I could take up the Palmair offer too!  Here in the West Country (Devon) we get really penalised (and not only with the highest Water Rates in the UK!!!) - especially if we want to fly from Exeter!!  The cheapest we could get in September was £210 each - and even then we've got to get to Bristol!!!  Still............that's the price we have to pay for living in a beautiful part of the country!

Come ON England!!!!

Hi Josi.

Dont worry, I telephoned Palmair this afternoon on another matter, but asked out of curiosity about the cheap flights, they have gone already. But they do come up quite often from £99. If anyone is ever interested please let me know and I can find out from Palmair, or if it is advertised in the local paper I will place it on this page. It is a good price when the normal for this time of year is £230 flight only return.

Best Wishes.

I flew with My Travel last year. At the last moment they decided to combine the Corfu and Skiathos flights, oh no I thought a 5 hr flight! Actually it didn't work out too bad, we were on the ground at Skiathos for less than 30 mins and the short flight to Corfu took us low over the Greek mainland with a lovely view of the mountains. Arrived at Corfu ahead of time and had my cases in about 20 mins, they've never been off loaded that quick!

Re: Cheap Flights

I have not actually used this site but they do seem to promote some good prices, especially if you wait till last minute and don't mind unusual flight times:  www.air-flights.co.uk

We are planning on using them early September for a last minute trip to Kalami.

If anybody has any experience of this company plesae give details through this forum.
