Was the Lefka teverna where Akis and Tina used to dance?  They were really good and I also saw them at  a hotel in Kanoni I think it was called the divani palace (or something like that.  We were staying at the Kerkira Golf it was 1980 or 82.

Hi JazzyJean

Oh yes, Akis, that was his name.   I think he was the owner, wasn't he?  Really nice man.  It was a popular place to go at that time.  The Kerkira Golf has been refurbished and is looking good.  George on reception is still going strong.  I remember him being a bit arrogant back then.  He remembered me, but said I was thinner then.  I replied `so were you', ha!

The Divani Palace is still going.  Did you ever go to a disco that was in Kanoni, and do you remember the name?  It's closed now.  Also, Zorba's, which was a really popular taverna back then.

Linda

No didnt go to a disco but I remember a bar called Churchills owned by an english bloke.  What I liked about the Divani Palace was watching the planes land (how sad is that?)

Hello!

I am back…

I will try to revive this thread so it doesn’t share the same fate as the dinosaurs.

Oceanblu- I am not sure about the location you are referring to. But all the places starting with a K (on the east side) that I am familiar with are Kouloura, Kaminaki, Krouazeri, Kalami and Kerasia. Take your pick, but I think it might be Kerasia. Furthermore, out of curiosity are you residing in the U.K or Greece?

As for myself, winter has hit with a vengeance here in Toronto. I am enviously looking south towards Florida to thaw my aching bones, not to mention my still ringing ears from Bora Bora days.

Which brings me to Suzibren.

That’s a nice photo Suzibren.

I must state for the record that your shot was taken at the place known as The Kaiser’s throne at Pelekas. The background of your photo is known as the Livadi de Ropa (Ropa Valley in English). Now in my humble opinion this location (Kaisers throne) is one of the top ten must visit sites in Corfu. I must have visited this site hundreds of times. I have brought guests, friends, girlfriends, relatives, (I even brought a member of a royal family and their entourage of about 20) to this site.  They were all impressed.  During the month of August the sunset on the west side overlooking Glyfada beach is once again--- impressive.

I must cut out for now, as I am going skating---oh how I wish it were swimming in Glyfada.

Happy Holidays!

"That’s a nice photo Suzibren."   Thanks Stephanos,  for the compliment! It  was taken by my sister-in-law, who took us there to see the sunrise. My children have instructions to have my ashes fly off that spot when the time comes. This was decided way back then!  And to this day they make fun,  saying "Mom wants to be thrown off that mountain in Corfu."   Yep, that's my wish, but in  the meantime I plan to see it again in person this June.  Was there just that one time - can you believe it? The plan is to re-visit this June and make that my top priority - maybe take another photo so I can compare "before" and "after" 30 years have elapsed since that "first kiss".

About Toronto- My next door neighbor is from Toronto - and she's here now - she's what we call a "snowbird" -( People who come down here for the winter and return up north in June or July for the summer.) We Floridians enjoy  summer all year 'round...so we  very happily stay put.

Thank you so much for all the history of our favorite places. It brings our experience back into focus as though it were yesterday.

Where in Florida do you stay? Be sure to drop a line and let me know, o.k.?

Wishing you warmth and a beautiful holiday season. Love and light, Carin
