Whilst browsing through the Radio Times for GCSE Bitesize for my son I spotted a programme called Talk Greek. Discribed as a "short beginners' course covering essential phrases when travelling." It's on Monday 3rd May, BBC 2 1am - 3am (Tuesday morning that is) So set your videos. VideoPlus number is 17758.

Thanks BBB.  We have the book and tape so the programme as well will be great.  Why do they put these things on so late?

Hi,

Its about time they showed a Greek language course in this slot, rather than the Spanish/French they always seem to.

On a similar note my wife is from Corfu and is a qualified teacher in Greece. We are living in north London at present and she is teaching some people Greek part-time. Thus if anyone is interested in learning Greek and is living around London then feel free to send me a PM to arrange something.

Paul.

Paul and I have watched the first 3 these programs so far.  Very basic but very informative also they give an insight to the Greek Culture and way of life.

Watching them made me realise now much we still have to learn about the language although we will be getting plenty of practice soon. I'm sure we will have plenty to talk about at our Greek class tonight.

Unfortunately being in Corfu at present we were unable to record the Talk Greek television programs. We have been learning from that course for a few months now it is quite good but u need the tapes with it.

Our Greek teacher at college was involved in the production of the television programme so looking forward to seeing a copy of it when we return. For those of you who have missed it, it is being repeated in a couple of months will post the dates if anyone interested.

Yes Graham couldnt resist that bit, you know what he's like, but you would not be envious if you saw the weather at the moment!!!!

He has to go home on Monday!!!! but some of us don't (he he he) so u can get ure own back on him next week when I am still here and the sun is shining. (it always rains when he is here)

Met up with Ian (Robin Hood)and family at lunch time today Steve, all making the most of things but hoping for some better weather tomorrow.

Graham is ever the tease!

Shame about the rain Angela, hopefully it's not putting a damper ( LOL ) on your holiday.

Wet Corfu or dry England?

No comparison

Dear Graham

yes please do post a reminder when these programmes are due to be broadcast again.  I forgot to set my vcr last Monday.  Probably because I'd stayed up all day Monday after working Sunday night, went to watch the British Superbike racing at Oulton Park.  It was worth staying up to see the bikes going through the remodelled chicane.

Getting back to learning Greek, we sit our exam at my nightschool class on Thursday the 13th
