Having never been to northern Corfu, could anyone help me giving me any idea of what is the distance between:

1) Acharavi - Agni Bay

2) Acharavi - Paleokastritsa

Many thanks.

D.

Hi

I'm not sure if you mean in kms or in travelling time.  If it is in kms then the map on the resort guide will give you some idea.  If it is in travelling time then I think we went from Agni to Acharavi in about 30 minutes.  I haven't gone from Acharavi to Paleokastritsa but it must be around the same time maybe a bit more.  These times are by car and assuming reasonable traffic and driving conditions.

I hope this helps and I know someone will correct me if I am wrong!

Julia

Hi D.

The distance from Acharavi to Paleokastritsa is approximately 40km, and the same distance, maybe slightly less to Agni. Travelling times is as said above.

The Acharavi to Paleo road is across country, where as the Acharavi to Agni route is around the northeast coast.

Safe driving

Regards

Sorry Chris, i'm afraid your a little bit out, it's nearer to 15 km

Acharavi to agni is roughly the same.

Thanks to microsoft auto route for the above information!

Cheers Steve.

I stand corrected. Believe it or not I got those figures from the AA Pocket Guide to Corfu. I have also just looked at my WH Smith Pocket Guide and they are nearer to the distances you have said.

Regards

Steve and Sailor, I think you are both wrong~!

We went yesterday, and I agree with Julia - about 30 mins driving at a moderate speed. Thus I would put the distance at less than 40kms. Maybe Kev could correct us all with a more acurate 'guess'

i think the problem with distancers/journey times on corfu is that nothing is 'as the crow flies'!  the roads zig zag so much it seems to add miles to a journey - but who cares, each corner is an experience in itself!

Both Agni and Paleo are around 30km from Acharavi as "the road winds".  Paleo (from Acharavi) will take around 30 minutes and so will Agni.  Some roads on each route are good and allow fast driving but many are slow.

If you travel over Pantocratoras to Agni then you will clock around 15-20 km but the route is almost impossible.

Nathan - I am going to the airport to "collect" my sister Tuesday and intend (as always) to return from town to Acharavi via Dassia and your neck of the woods to again show her the East Coast.  I will clock it on the speedo and report back.  By the way will you be at the taverna at around 4PM for a quick hello ?

Steve - last time I came from Agni to Acharavi it took me 25 minutes driving like a maniac (to my disgrace) along the windy roads.  I had a lunch date in Acharavi and was late but, luckily, the folk I was having lunch with were also late LOL.  When I travel from Acharavi to CFU it takes about 25 minutes to reach the English built Paleo road (about 5 minutes from Paleo).  But then I travel via the Trumpeta pass.  I don't know of a better route and apologise to Microsoft etc. and their super software tools.

Come on matey - "Software" - I know my limits mate LOL !  Just got my map in front of me measuring the routes again.  It will be interesting to clock the km's tomorrow.  I think what clouds things is the windy roads and speed as Becky suggests.  Interesting stuff.

Wait a minute, wait a minute!

I've just twigged on, it should be miles that I put down not kms!

so that means acording to microsoft it should be 24 km's

What a berk! LOL

Excellent Steve - that's must be about right then !!!  I still do things in stones and pounds here LOL - Greek mates say "what's a stone"  or "how many kilos in a stone?"

Gotta clock it tomorrow though so we can all be sure !  Will post back after the journey.

regards

Steve

Bang on re: Acharavi to Agni.  Just done the airport run and here are the details:

Acharavi to Paleokastritsa junction (via Trumpeta) is 23.5km.  Add the 9km from the junction to Paleo and that makes 32.5km from Acharavi to Paleo

Agni (from the top of the road that leads down) to Acharavi (pump) is 23.5km.  So if you add the little bit that leads to the bay then Steve is absolutely 100% correct at 24km.

Who's paying for the petrol used in my research then ? (Steve?  LOL)

Hi Kev.

Thanks matey, so I (or the AA Pocket Guide) is way out. Not too far though on the Acharavi to Paleo distance, allowing for wrong turns, mistakes, etc, on first trip maybe, . And it looks like I would have gone shooting past the Agni or Acharavi, which ever way I was travelling. I could have been thinking Nautical Miles though, its bigger, therefore more kilometers. Any excuse. .

Cheers Kev.

Kind Regards

Well Bob, for every gallon of petrol Kev used, I will give him a thimble full of mythos.

Now you can't say that I'm not fair can you?
