Welcome to the Kafeneion forum, a new Greek-language area for all CTG members.

To help make the forum as accessible as possible to all users, regardless of whether you are a beginner or a more-fluent speaker, we have come up with some tips for how to make the most out of it:

1.      Try to write as much of your message as you can in Greek .  You can do this by either:

  • Using a Greek font; or
  • Spelling it phonetically using your normal font.

2.      Can you please try to show where the emphasis is on the Greek word, either by including an accent or putting the emphasised part of the word in bold type; e.g. the greeting “Yeia sou” could be written as “ÃåéÜ óïõ” or “Yeia sou”

3.      Not compulsory, but it would help others to join in and learn if you could also write your message in English after the Greek version.

4.      If you can’t remember what the Greek word is, just fill in the gap by using the English one and someone will try to help you with the missing word(s).

5.      Don’t worry if you make a mistake – we all do it.  The thing to remember is that we all still make mistakes in our own language, so we’re bound to make them when we’re learning another.

6.      Just give it a go and have fun!!

Good luck

Stuart (now also known as Skiouras)
