Help! 2 Dumped Puppies

We need help. Last night in the car park next to Harbour Lights Cafe Bar in Gouvia, two six-week old puppies, one female and one male, were dumped.

Jackie and Trevor, the owners of Harbour Lights, took them in for the night. Unfortunately, they cannot keep them, as they already have two dogs to care for. Today we called CARE, a shelter for homeless dogs, but they refused to take them. Perhaps they have no more room.

Please, would anyone consider taking these two puppies? I was there last night when they were dumped, and they are extremely sweet. They appear to be labrador and cocker spaniel mix. They're black, with floppy ears, and white tipped paws and tails. And they're homeless!

If you find it in your heart to adopt one, or both, of these dogs, please call Jackie and Trevor at: 26610 99951. The puppies are sheltered at Harbour Lights until furhter notice.

I am afraid that I can't help personally but there is a group I have heard of that may be able to give you some ideas.  This is the Greek Animal Rescue and their website address is http://www.greekanimalrescue.com/

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Just to let everyone know, as some of you will be worried, the puppies are fine.  I just phoned the Harbour lights to see if they still needed some help before I phoned the people I know, and was told that they had just been collected by someone from the Ark.

Wonderful news Julia, particularly for the dogs. Thanks for checking for us. Also thanks to Med Lover, and to Jackie & Trevor of the Harbour Lights Gouvia for looking after them.

Anyone see the 10 pups on GMTV yesterday morning. This morning they had been found homes, some were still being checked. Good news.

I was in Corfu town in May and was buying a stereo from a big store, i noticed a petshop across the road and thought i would pop in and see what they have. I came out in tears, just not used to seeing puppies in pet shops, I wanted to buy them all and i am a cat person.....

Glad it all had a happy ending!  I get so upset about abandoned animals and just want them all!

I adore doggies.  Just adore them.  Feel they are far superior to human beings in many ways.  Anyway, thank goodness there are so many wonderful folk out there who were able to help with these widdle kids!  (Sorry; I do then to lapse into baby talk when talking about dogs.)  Dogs always give such huge amounts of love and faithfulness, the least we humans can do is rescue them when they are homeless and lonely.

God bless all the people who were so kind.

I can remember when the sight of caged puppies and kittens were quite common in UK pet shops - and not that long ago either.

I was brought up in Croydon and there were a couple of local pet shops who had sections of their front windows divided off into seperate pens so they could show off their "wares" to passing trade.  There would always seem to be a few young kids standing outside with their noses pressed to the glass, with some of them taking great delight in teasing/frightening the young animals inside.

Given the fact that we are supposed to be such great animal lovers, it is strange to remember that most people took this for granted.  Mind you, there must have been some complaints, otherwise the shops wouldn't have stopped this practice.  It hasn't ended completely though.  I can think of a few shops that are displaying caged rabbits and birds in a similar way (but this time inside the shop, not as part of a window display).

Is Rocky the great big white fluffy labrador who took a liking to me when I was there in May?  Everytime I walked along the front he spotted me coming, the tail started going and he jumped up at me - nearly knocking me over cos I'm only 5 foot tall - lovely dog but a bit over enthusiastic!!  It ended up that I hid behind Mic until I got past him.
