Dear Villa Owners,

I own a nice 2 Villa plot with planning permission & great views looking down on Liapades Beach & Paleokastritsa. So far I have financed it all myself but now need to borrow some money to finance the building. I may be tempted to sell the smaller 2 bed plot before construction starts, so alleviating my debt but narrowing my profit!

Does anyone know the best bank to approach with the Mortgage application & have you had dealings with them before.

Also if anyone knows of anyone looking to get in on this venture at a very early stage without all the hassles that I have been through to get to this position please let me know - chris@allsportstrophies.com

The two banks I have heard mentioned most in connection with mortgages are Alpha Bank and Eurobank. We have not had any mortgage dealings with either although we do bank with Alpha Bank and are very happy with their service.

I would suggest you speak to Dimitrios Savoulidis at the Alpha Bank in Corfu town, he was very helpful when we wanted to discuss the possibilities of mortgages. If you want to ring him or visit without an appointment it's best to speak to him between 9 and 10am. Alpha Bank telephone number: 0030 2661021890

have you thought of raising the money on your home, it may be a lot less hassle if you have the equity.

We've been having a huge problem since we don't have enough tax receipts (i.e. none) in Greece. Because of this the Gk banks can't help us (Eurobank got closest but the guarantees they wanted were laughable) so we're working now for an international mortgage.

Take a look at this page where you can get more info on overseas mortgages

Theres a drop down menu on the top right hand side - select Greece for more info

They will aslo provide a personal quote so you can compare with what's on offer locally
