My dear husband Richard () has told me he searched high and low in our home town and surrounding area to try and find me a bottle of Metaxa as a Christmas present - without success

Anyone in Suffolk know where we can get it from - I seem to remember you can get it from Asda (which is the one supermarket he didn't try), but before going there has anyone any other suggestions? Can't wait until the summer for some!!!

Hi a friend tried to get me a bottle from Asda's in Ashford (Kent) for my birthday last Wens. They'd never heard of it!!!! I think it must depend on the store as to whether it's stocked.

He's given me the money and I'm off the Unwins tonight to try there. I know they stock it, I've rung before, just have to hope they've got some left.

Sooz,

They sell it in my ASDA (but that's in Lancashire so no use to you) but you need to look for just the bottle. It isn't available in the box as it is in Corfu,

You can use the internet of course - I ordered a bottle to be delivered at work but the internet company didn't bother to put my name on the label. It ended up on somebody else's desk and it was only by chance that a colleague who knew of my order saw it and passed it on!

It was interesting that the first person didn't bother to ask around to see who the bottle actually belonged to!!

I have been searching the internet, and came across this link for Metaxa Brandy. It gives 3 different grades, Metaxa Amphora 7 Star, Metaxe 5 Star, and Metaxa Grand Olympian Reserve. The company is based in Ramsgate, Kent. I hope this is of help to you.

Hi Sue,

I think Aldi stock metaxa, or at least they did in the summer when they had their greek promotion on during the olympic games in the Stowmarket store.

Armesy - I must have missed out on the Aldi Metaxa - here in Ipswich we finally got the ouzo but after the rest of the country, so it would seem!

Thanks all, for your suggestions and especially to Nathan - I don't trust the postal service not to break the bottle - it would be too much of a waste!!!
