My first time was in 1992 Sidari, I took my mom with me she had never been abroad before and we loved it. The following year my mom and her friend, my boyfriend and I went back to Sidari. I swam through the Canal D'Amour and suprise surprise the following year when we went back to Sidari it was our honeymoon!!
We said we would try to go back for our fifth wedding anniversary but that came and went so did our tenth and our fifthteen but managed to get back 17 years later and loved it still. Booked for August next year can't wait.

For me it was not Corfu either but Mykonos en route to a ferry to Naxos
But it does not matter it could have been anywhere
It was the warmth and the smell of the herbs growing on the hillsides which got me as I stepped outside the plane onto the steps. In those days there were no coaches, you had to walk across the tarmac and the smells followed you!!

Corfu 26 years ago was very different to the Corfu of today but one thing that has never changed in that 26 yrs is the wonderful, friendly welcome you get from the Greek people, they are so genuine & really are pleased to see you as you go back year on year.
I say to anyone that can't make up their minds whether to give Greece & in particular Corfu a try, just go I guarantee you will not be unhappy & hopefully will be a convert Pat x
GO ON YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!

Our first sample of Greek Hospitality was in 1983. We went to Rhodes. Stayed in Rhodes Town and used to catch the Bus to Falaraki which was just a lovely Beach with one Taverna and a Shop therethose were the days.
Did not go back until 2000 to Corfu and then we plus our Son were again hit by the warmth of the Greek People. We had taken our Son on his first European Holiday in 1999 to Spain he liked it but it was Corfu that became his favourite place to be and as they say "The Rest is History"
ROLL ON 2012

My first time at the end of the 90's was MAGICAL!! It's the only country I've never ever wanted to leave to go home and the only place that's made me cry on my leaving it (soppy I know, but there you go). The view from Bella Vista overlooking Paleo was so breathtaking on my 1st trip and I have to go and visit it every year. I adore Corfu Town and discovered the south which is gorgeous. Not forgetting the wonderful people who we've made friends with over the years and some who are now friends for life. Still loads to do and see and can't wait until August 2012. For me and my family, it's a very special country indeed.xx

My first visit to Corfu Acharavi was in September 2005. My son had visited Sidari the previous year and as we were tiring of Spain and the Islands he had encouraged us to go somewhere new. We arrived at the airport and was collected by probably the most mental taxi driver Ive ever encountered. He drove up to Acharavi at about 80 mph over the mountain pass, with a coffee and ciggy in one hand and one finger on the steering wheel all the while having some row with whoever was at the other end of the phone. Our suitcases hanging by a string from the boot. We arrived at the what was then Beis Beach hotel in the early hours of the morning. We didnt go to sleep but unpacked and took a stroll opposite the hotel to the beach. It was at that very moment I fell in love with Greece. The sea resembled a lake and the mountains of Albania were in the distance. It was awesome. We had a wonderful week. I remember the full moon & the walks to Roda along the sea shore. We didnt want to leave. We have since holidayed in Sidari, Paleo and Kassiopi. We have also holidayed in Rhodes (Pefkos) 3 times and Kos (Tingkaki) once. We went to Stoupa, Mainland in 2007 and are booked to return for 2 weeks this year. So Corfu started us on a never ending love affair with Greece that I cannot now get enthusiastic about holidaying anywhere else. I love the People, the food, the weather and yes even the crazy taxi drivers.

Wow, what a wonderful thread, so much emotion. We first visited Greece in 1995 think it was, Lesvos, followed by Skopelos the following year, hooked by then, Thassos, Crete, Zante (twice), Paxos, Skiathos then Corfu. We had seen the old town from the plane as we flew in to get the ferry to Paxos and looked at each other, we must come back here
We did, 9 years ago and that was that, no more travelling, we were home.

My first time was just last year, June 2011, it was our Honeymoon. We stayed in Kaminaki and had a wonderful visit. We live in the US so it was quite a distance to travel; it was my husband's first time on a plane too!
The people we met, both locals and other vacationers were so friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely amazing. We ate most nights at Spiros Taverna and just loved the food and the location and George and Nikos were wonderful.
We had a most relaxing, laid back honeymoon. We did spend a night in Athens on the way home; however we liked Corfu much better!
We hope to go back in a couple of years, and this time I would like to take my son with us!
It truly is a wonderful place, one that found its place in our hearts after just one visit.
