Has anyone used this website. If not there travel insurance pricesare excellent. For 2 weeks in Europe in September for 2 people you can get insurance for just under £14.00 per couple
Just be very careful of exactly what's covered (especially with regard to medical expenses), as some policies aren't quite what as straightforward as they may appear, and may end up costing you dear.
Also be aware of any excesses.
I have an annual, worldwide policy. I had a choice of bronze, silver, gold or platinum cover and for the sake of a few extra pounds, the gold cover by far suited me best (the platinum option included some extreme sports), with no excess.

You need to be very careful of using these off-the-shelf type policies. There have been some recent reports about insurance companies not honouring policies because the holder had a previous condition that had not been declared.
Sometimes, the previous condition has been completely unrelated to the injury/illness that the traveller is claiming for but their reasoning is that, if they had known about previous conditions, they may have refused to offer a policy in the first place; therefore, they shouldn't be liable for any claims. I know it just sounds like they are trying to worm their way out of a claim but it has worked for them in the past.
This can be particularly upsetting if the travel agent simply ticks a box saying you require insurance without actually checking your medical history first.
If you are in any doubt, it always pays to give the company a ring first to check whether you should declare something or not - and then ask them to put their answer in writing.

I booked my Son's insurance for the USA. One company quoted him £34.00 went on to moneyshop.com and went not for the cheapest but still got him it for £21.00.
I went on and enquired for me and other half for two weeks and was quoted 11.00 for the two of us.
Quite Good.

I would be really careful about booking any travel insurance at the prices quoted, as everyone has said above, because it is impossible for there to be anything like the level of medical cover, air ambulance repatriation etc in there at that price that you need for a holiday.

Cheapest is not always the best or indeed the most suitable.
I always use a web site to compare quotes and am often tempted by the company at the top of the list and dream about the savings I can make and what else I could spend the money on.
However, in instances like this my hed rules my heart and I always opt for a gold style package.
With 2 children, who always seem to manage to "damage" themselves in some way on holiday we are grateful for the full cover we receive when needed!

I fully endorse all the comments about checking what is covered - that goes for 'free' insurance with a bank account too. I work in travel insurance ! Sometimes its worth paying an extra couple of quid to get a good brand name and therefore good cover. Also, if you do have a complaint its the bigger companies who will care about their reputation and brand.

Since I started travelling with my children from when they were just months old, I've always had annual travel insurance [as it works out cheaper and less hassle] especially for the air ambulance evacuation. Now they are almost 11 and 13 and I've been with the same people and continue the cover. It includes winter sports too and it's worldwide and also covers my husband if he travels on his own on business, etc. All this for just under £100 a year. Though I must say in all these years, we've never had to make a claim and long may that continue!!!
I think these cheap deals offered are just as good as long as you read the small print carefully as already mentioned by others here. At the end of the day, it is what suits you, isn't it.

Yes I agree, having worked in Travel I witnessed quite a few ruined holidays because people took out inadequate insurance, I really recommend that you read the small print CLOSELY be it on the web site or policy book. It's also worth paying out a little extra to have the excess wavered, so if, say for instance the policy excess is £50 per claim, if you have an unfortunate incident happen like it did to our friends...( their room was broken into and had nearly everything stolen including two of his shirts ) you loose the first £50 per claim per person... they lost out on about £250 of excess fees due to different individual items being stolen.... just a thought.

Be careful with cheap insurance, does it include repatriation, does it include your valuables over £150, be very careful we have this covered on our household insurance. We had £3000 worth of valuables stolen years ago and we were only able to claim because we had decent household insurance. We got everything replaced. Had it have been our travel insurance, we would have got nothing!!! Don't go for cheap, it is not worth it.

TheChef and myself always use MRL Insurance and we have a Worldwide Annual policy at £99 for a couple. It is a good insurance and includes dangerous sports of different kinds. It is worth taking a look at their single trip prices they are very reasonable. We can as well go on as many holidays as we want in a year up to 30 days. We can pay extra and get a 45 or 60 days policy as well.
Regards, Pegasus.

I'm with Direct Travel [www.direct-travel.co.uk] [Premier Worldwide 45 days/trip] and as I renew my policy continuously, I pay just £99 [less 10% for unbroken cover] for all four of us.
Have a look so you can compare.
Cheers.

Hi Jan16,
I have been onto the travel insurance site and have requested some details. Our policy isn't due until January 2007 but they will send me the information and I will keep it for then. I did an initial quote on the site and it said £72, so that would save me £25 at least. Thanks for that.
Regards, Pegasus.
