Brefore you go to the Cafe check how long the queue is at the Passport/Security Gate is. On one of our trips there was a shortage of security staff and the queue went right down the middle of the hall. They kept closing the gate to avoid a crush. We waited so long that they were calling "last call" for our flight and others. There was some panic and went we finally got through we were hurried straight onto the plane, so no shopping. The airport shop can't have done any business that day.
We haven't had this problem before or again so just a one off we hope.

I was dreading it after hearing the tales, especially that only specially trained pilots will fly to Corfu due to the length of the run way, and that it looks like your landing in the middle of the water.

Flying over Corfu island at midday on a hot day was so beautiful, and I didnt really care if the airport was like an old shed! I just wanted to hit that sunshine!

Off the plane, down the steps, feel the sunshine on your face and dig the sunglasses out! Up the two little ramps to passport control, one guy who never even looks! Two carousels, OK, its a bit of a wait, but you can go outside and have a ciggie and buy a cool drink from the machine. Some Brits love queueing, or pushing to the front, to me this aint going to make your bag come out any quicker, so just stand back and think of that lovely cool swimming pool and your first drink!

I always tie a scarf or bandanna or piece of ribbon around the handles of my case, so I know its deffo mine!

Then its out to find the rep and onto those loveyl air conditioned coaches for a tour of the island!

Have a lovely holiday, Im off to find my sunglasses!

They train them to shut their eyes as they make the approach to Corfu Airport

The first time we went we arrived in the dark so missed seeing the approach, we try to arrive in daytime now.

It is a bit nerve wracking landing at Corfu Airport (especially as I am petrified of flying!) with its tiny runway, but it is definately not as bad as landing on Male Airport in the Maldives! COMPLETE MADNESS!!!

I love the landing, feel as if I've come home

Being a bit of a mickey taker at times though, what I really love is seeing the faces of the 1st timers on the plane with me, he he

To all 1st timers, as long as you are aware ther's a bit of a jolt and are prepared for it, it's fine

Sue

Im one of the saddoos who cheers when the plane lands!

You get one on every plane eh!

Last years flight was amazing, we flew over Venice and you could see all the little canals and stuff, it was such a clear day!  Dont you just love it when the pilot says "Well shall shortly be landing at Kerkyra airport, where I have just been informed the temperature is 80 degrees and sunny!"
