It takes very determined people, such as yourselves and Alterego (and Mr Alterego) who started this thread, to take the plunge and try to turn dreams into reality. Life is too short to indulge in many regrets, much better to live it to the full, even it if doesn't always work out the way you hope.
I'm so glad we decided to give it a go too. Thankfully we're doing OK at the moment, but you never know what's around the next corner. If things went wrong for us now I'd like to think that I too could be as pragmatic as you. The amazing experiences we've had and the people we've met since we moved we could never have hoped for if we'd stayed put, so taking the risk has definitely been worth it.
I hope that you'll be able to return to Corfu, even if only to visit, in the future. Meanwhile, even if your circumstances are rather reduced, I'm glad you're warm and dry

Chilled. Sounds quite romantic. We've had many fun times in caravans in the past.
I think you've actually embarked on another adventure. I hope it turns out to be as exciting in it's own way as your time in Corfu. Adventure takes many forms if you have the right attitude. It sounds to me as if you have.

Chilled, you have my utmost admiration. As I said previously, at least you had the courage to give it a go!There are those of us (myself included) who just sit back and say "I wish"!
I really don't know why some people take so much pleasure in knocking down other people's achievements - is it jealousy or plain spite? And believe me, it is a real achievement that you made the move to Corfu, even if you have had to return home sooner than you planned!

Po Po Po...Look what you started Alterego! Hilarious!
What are you going to do back home in December then?...they have an M&S here which would surely give you a Christmas job! Hope all works out for you anyway...would be great to have some fellow South Waleans as neighbours. I've been here nearly two years now and my head's still in the shed but as long as you have each other; what else is there ay!

Wow !!! just read that lot above, and it appears as though, that those doubting you along with those being negative of your adventures are jealous and nothing alse. Me I am not skint (penniless) whilst I am not that well off (finacially stable) however I wish that I had the guts to move to Corfu.
But as I live in bonnie Scotland where the sun shines all day every day for at least 8 months of the year I will just stay where I am. Good luck to alterego and I am sure that your luck will change someday.

Wow, which part of Scotland do you live in? It must be very different to the Scotland I know and love, especially after this last weekends rain.

Lived at Kinloss for a year back in the 80's, never been so cold in my life, no central heating or double glazing back then. A trip to the Naafi could have you captured for hours unable to get back home due to blizzards.
Beautiful place in the summer months, but the winters are definitely not for soft southerners like me!!

You picked a nice village alterego, we also have a village house in Kinopiastes (although only visit during the summer months, so far). The village locals are great, the scenery around the village is beautiful and the plateia with the taverna and cafe is very lively from May to October. The village fiesta 15th August is a memorable experience and cannot be missed. Look forward to meeting you one of the summer evenings!
