Hi Denise

Yes I know steel is expensive at the moment, I don't know how much more expensive than over here though. Do you have any idea what reinforcing costs in Corfu at the moment?

Well as you say you have time on your hands why not hire a mixer and D.I.Y..And if you let me know as to what you re laying ill give you the ingredient's as to how much to but in for the kinda mix you requier..It will work out a far lot cheaper if you wont to take your time with it....

How big is the slap going to be as you will need reinforcement bars to stop cracking..(Depending)Or you can segment each area and run a bead down to stop cracking..(Not sure how the law stands to it in Corfu)

As to the above post steel has hit an all time high..Once you at to pay them to scrap your car now they pay you...The Chinese and Korean markets are buying all the steel as much as they can from the defragments yards....Chris

For laying or building with re-enforced concrete the builders charge per cubic meter, including shuttering, steel and concrete.
Charge for an easy job like a slab with easy access used to bear a year or so ago anything from 200-250 euros/meter cube.

You need to work out how many cubes were layed (easy with a slab) and go from there.

e.g. a slab 10m x 7m x 0.5m thick would be 35 cube, 35 x 200 say = 7000 euros.

Thanks Eco

That's just the kind of figures I was looking for. There was no shuttering involved just a 75sqm slab.

Hi Brian

You're a star because my husband just asked me this evening to find out how much a bag of cement costs.

Many thanks

Hi Seangler

I can see our next few holidays are going to be laying crazy paving. The calories burnt being a labourer for my husband will now doubt allow me to eat lots of lovely greek food and drink many bottles of boutari.
