Because of the Lidel shopping I had no need to go to Costa's' mini market to purchase anything, when I did after a few days I found he was closed.
Thinking he had nipped to the loo ,I went into the butchers shop and spoke to Katarina, she told me Costas was in Athens recovering from a hip operation and that one of his sister's was looking after him!
We found out it was Erasmus's birthday from the Kafeneon in a few days time,I decided to make him a cake!
No easy task ,I used a stainless steel fruit bowl with slats near the top,the cake tin was a tiny non stick roasting tin,the scales only went up to 18 ounces as they were my weight watches scales from many years ago when I used to diet!!
All ingredients mixed by hand,a few sultanas and some of Olga's walnuts for good measure and of course her chicken's free range eggs, the mix was slopped into the roasting tin.
Twenty minutes later the cake was cooked,it smelt delicious, how it would taste was another matter!
I made holes in the surface with a skewer and poured in some Golden Syrup that I had brought with me in a pancake mixture,it was passed it's sell by date!
I took some icing sugar out of another cake mix I had and iced the top!
I was very proud of my accomplishment without the use of any mod cons and an inherited electric cooker that looked as if it had come out of the Ark!
The fuse only tripped the once when the oven was on,OK the cake sank a bit until I noticed!
A packet of Birthday candles from another mini market, the ones that are supposed to re light time after time, the test candle didn't re light ,I think it was damp!
Onto the Kafeneon that night I presented Erasmus with his cake and lit candle,Mr M and I sang'Happy Birthday 'to him,the cake was then cut up and passed around to the customers.
Some was sent next door for Elanor and their daughter.
Elanor returned my plate, got out a paper and pen and wanted to know the recipe for the Birthday Cake!
Time to go,Mr M got up to pay our bill!
We found out that every customer's drinks where on 'The Birthday Boy ' that night, but he told no one in advance

I can only imagine ,Julia!
Mr M sings a lot!
I buy too much of the veg mans wine!
Olga lets me hang my bedding on her washing line to dry,she always admires it!
Yakki shouts me to get out of bed in the morning,so I think he thinks we should get up earlier!
As I like to wear bright colours I suspect I'm sometimes mistaken for an Opel Fruit!and I know all eyes are on my Crocs,as they enter the shops before I do!
On the whole the folk of Karousades are used to us by now, hopefully we are the norm to them now and they don't give us a second thought anymore, except for a warm welcome when we turn up once more
