I too have a much loved cook book, Greek Food by Rena Salaman which is held together by sticky tape and threatening to fall to shreds each time I use it. I picked it up here in 1983 when I realised this would become my home and I should learn the local cuisine.
It is a wonderful book with lovely stories of the authors memories of cooking with her family (female) elders. Every recipe I have used is spot on and and always tastes 100% authentic. I see it is listed on Amazon, highly recomended.

Sue, I also have a book by Rena Salaman called Greek Island Cookery. It was printed in 1987 and is full of beautiful watercolours as well as delicious recipes. It's just a lovely book to look through.
I also have a book called The Home Book of Greek Cookery written by Joyce M Stubbs. This was printed way back in 1963. Joyce Stubbs lived in Greece for 15 years and spoke the language fluently. A nice little book.
Both are hardbacks. I don't know if they came out in a paperback edition.

I have heard of Joyce Stubbs' book too. I first discovered it in a library in Glasgow. It is an excellent little book, and is one I would love to track down again.
I would just like to find out Members' opinions on some of the popular bigger books I mentioned in an earlier post, like "Vefa's Kitchen," "Culinaria Greece" "The Olive and the Caper," and the" Complete Greek Cookbook" by Theresa Yianilos. I know these books are perhaps quite modern in their approach and layout, and a number of friends have asked me to help them choose the best one. Anyone heard of any of these titles?
Thanks!

Have just bought Greek Island Cookery on ebay - £3.09 inc postage. Cooking the Greek Way is also available but a bit to expensive for me at the moment.
Love the Joyce Stobbs book - I remember reccomending it on here years ago - my UK copy is falling to bits but managed to find another paperback copy, on ebay too, for my Greek kitchen.

Trisa I did not know there was another book by Rena Salaman, I will have to look it up. That must have been her 2nd one as the one I have came out in 83.
Thanks for the tip!
