The site claims to be a "full restaurant guide".... which it very clearly isn't.

It's very far from full, and to be a guide it has to informative and impartial. "A special place... for special people" is hardly informative and as the restaurants are paying for inclusion it's not going to be impartial.

No thanks.

Hi,

Shall we just give them a chance to get this up and running? There are lots of wonderful places to eat on Corfu which don't get the custom they deserve because people aren't aware of their existence.

I am glad to see La Bonita (now in Dassia) getting a slot. They make the most fantastic pizzas but because their location is not the best, many people don't know they are there. The chance of a year's free advertising is a great opportunity for them and those like them. They don't have to re-new if it doesn't work out for them but if it does, what a differnce it could make to an extremely nice Greek family who work incredibly hard and deserve more business than they get!

I think that, in principle, this is a good initiative although I do accept that advertisements are in themselves no recommendation. Could the site owner perhaps add a facility for people who have used the restaurants to add comments?

I have found out phone no's of restaurants on this site which has been very helpful,I can copy them down and take them with me now. Probably could have found them anyway but this is an easy way.

But, Maybe it should be stated as being a guide to 'some' of the restaurants on Corfu and not all of them, also where spots are described as the most beautiful on Corfu maybe one of the most beautiful would be more exact and not predjudice.

Thank you all for your positive and negative comments!

Our intention wasn't to promote the site through here but to give you the information that it exists. We think that that the purpose of a forum is to provide to its members useful information and we keep that for our e-guides as well.

We just show…what is. You won’t find any other restaurant site with 360 virtual tours, Google maps, menu-suggestions, events, photo galleries and so many search criteria in Greece not even in Europe. The virtual tour shows the case as it is and gives you the opportunity to see the place before you go there. Also the site is clean and easy to use without big fancy advertisements to extract your attention. If you noticed the size of the advertisements on the bottom of the page is smaller than the size of the photos in the listing which includes the free (trial) entries as well. This is might not be fair for the ones who advertise in the banners and not for the ones who are for free!

We don't make any recommendations for any of the restaurants. We are a business and not a charity to include everyone for free. Our target is to include all Corfu restaurants even with a small photo and details something which is very difficult and needs money and time and money=time. The ones who pay a full package deserve to be listed above the ones who are for free as they present their property in a guide that is useful for its users and provide information. The cost even for the full presentation is low so it is not forbidden for a restaurant to advertise on the site. And finally the text is written from the owners and not from us.

We hope you that will all find it useful in the near future!

Well I don't want do diminish the effort that goes into producing a website like this. The presentation is slick and hopefully will become useful in the future.

I have to say, however, that allowing the restaurants to provide their own wording is hopeless! Everyone will be 'The Best' and 'Most Traditional' or whatever and apart from providing a list of phone numbers, is basically useless.

Saying that you have to wait until they are open implies that you actually go there and see what is on offer. Why not do that and write your own two line review of each entry sticking to the facts.

Notably, all the good food recommendation guides are always anonymous to avoid possible accusation of bias.

Useful is, phone numbers, accurate location information and accurate opening times (assuming anything can be accurate in Corfu!).

You could also have a customer review section although this can lead to fights!

I will wait and see.
