Obese people have the right to two seats for the price of one on flights within Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada has ruled.
The high court declined to hear an appeal by Canadian airlines of a decision by the Canadian Transportation Agency that people who are "functionally disabled by obesity" deserve to have two seats for one fare.
The airlines had lost an appeal at the Federal Court of Appeal in May and had sought to launch a fresh appeal at the Supreme Court. The court's decision not to hear a new appeal means the one-person-one-fare policy stands.
The appeal had been launched by Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz and WestJet.
Well any comments??? May want to bulk up on Big Macs if you are going to Canada!!

Look at the above, this could be the future. Joking aside, the more weight a plane carries, the more fuel it uses. The more luggage we carry, the more we pay. How long before we pay a fare attributable to our own weight?

This has come up be for and i would argue the case every time...
The pay load master that checks the aircraft out side the aircraft is responsible to put the tally to the captain be for take off...The pay load master knows only to well of the wight of the luggage..And for any thing else that goes into the holed and any extra cargo that it may take on...As an average say 25 kgs per person...(This is standard weight)But he does not know the weight of the passengers so an average weight goes in again....So an average amount of fuel is pump on to the plane and in case of any eventuality that mite occur on the planes route..Althoe a plane may be old it has up to date engines and are more cost efficient engines that uses less fuel..Its a catches catch can situation at the end of the day to get more money out the passengers.....
Its no good building a bridge that can take a ten ton lorry and a lorry goes over weighing some twenty tons all things our taken in case for any vitality that mite occur and the same apples to planes..The average weight a plane takes on is well below its capacity in what it can do....My theory only and i will stick to it...Chris
Don A very good link also....
For instance this year we flew to Porta Vallarta on the pacific side of mexico..We last done this trip was back 1998..And at to land at Stanford in Orlando to Refuel our onward journey to Mexico....Ten years later the aircraft nows flys none stop...(Better fuel consumption) from more efficient engines....
