Hi all – thanks for providing this forum. I haven't been to Corfu since 1985, so I expect it’s changed a little. And this time, I have to take 2 pre-teen girls with me (11 & 12). One of them has been before, and went on and on about Aqualand, so I guess I want to stay somewhere near there, but preferably in a reasonably quiet/unspoilt resort. We’ll hire a car, so hopefully getting around won’t be too much of a problem.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks a lot

Well Aqualand is also a resort so you could stay there. I guess it gets quieter once the day visitors gone home. Go to www.aqualand-corfu.com and click on Aqualand Village.

If you want coast then you chose either east or west. I'm not sure which ar ethe quieter on that part of the Island but I'm sure someone will suggest some places soon.

All the info. you need is already on this site, click on 'Corfu Guide' at the top of the page, then click on the map, the seaside resorts nearest Aqualand are probably Ermones, Glyfada, Pelekas and Ag Gordios on the west coast and Kontokali, Gouvia, Dassia, Ipsos and Barbati on the East.

As previously mentioned Aqualand is a resort in itself, mostly all inclusive but not all, there are several good places to eat in the vicinity, notably in Ag Ioannis there is the Cockerel Taverna on the Main road to town and Kosta's in the square in the old village(turn left at the cockerel).

Going towards Kokini (north on the main rd.) is Spiros and Vassilis - french cuisine and quite expensive, about 100 metres further down on the right is Angeliki's which is a gem, simple plain traditional food and drink, in my experience the best value on  the island.

Further on past the roundabout going towards Paleokastritsa is Nakos which was recommended by Emma Tennant in one of her books.

Hogweed, the resorts that Jimmy mentioned are spot on. I'm a big fan of Agios Gordios on the west coast, have a look at this web site.

I have a house a few km from Aqualand.  Everything JimmyH says is correct.  I would particularly recommend Nakos restaurant.  It serves a range of very tasty traditional Greek foods rather than the grills which become rather samey after a while.  If, however, you want a really good grill on that side of the island then the Olympic Grill Room in Vatos cannot be bettered in my opinion.  I would personally say that you would be better to stay somewhere on that western side of the island because the cross-island road from Gouvia to Aqualand is a bit of a nightmare drive which you would not want to do on a daily basis.

Hope this helps.
