We are Corfu regulars, probably 15 visits in 8 years but have only ever stayed in San Stefanos North West. We like quiet places that have quite decent transport connections as neither of us are allowed to drive through medical reasons.  Our ideal nightlife is somewhere without discos where we can linger over a meal and enjoy conversations with whoever. Where in Corfu woyuld you suggest and specifically why?

We really enjoy Kassiopi there are nice walks both during the day and at night.  The harbour is great for people watching and the tavernas down there are very busy and friendly I am sure you would find plenty to do there.

Hi Don 1

I would suggest Kalami, it is quiet has 2 bars and three tavernas, all of which are very good.  Agni is in walking distance or you can get a boat there in the evenings to the three taverans that it has to offer (20 min walk along costal path).  In the opposite direction, about 15 min walk by road you have the lovely harbour of Kaloura with a nice fish restaurant.

Also there is Dimitris restaurant, they will collect you from Kalami as they are at the top of the road going in, or you can walk as we did only 5 mins from the top of the A&A appartments.

I have been 4 times always staying at the A&A which make you very welcome.  In the daytime there is the beach, 2 pools at A&A and you can also go to the Summer dreams pool & bar next door.

There is a bus to Kassiopi, which takes about 10 mins or Corfu town, a little longer.

We will be there again next year.

PM me if you want any further info.

Lesley

Paleocastritsa. The bus takes 25/30 minutes to town. There is one disco which you would pass without actually knowing it was there. There are tons of tavernas where you can find a variety of food. Beautiful surroundings...can't emphasis that bit enough. The age group is 30 plus and everyone is there to have an enjoyable time. As some may say, Paleo does have visitors during the day (Most resorts do) but in the evening it is so quiet and peaceful. But shhhhhh...don't tell anyone as we love it all to ourselves!

Hi Don & Sandra

Hard to say - Do agree with Wendy on Kassiopi.  They have local travel agents who have lots of different trips to do.  Have lots of Taverna's so you could sit in a different one nearly every night and have a different view of the World going by and you can have it as loud/quiet as you want it.

Not having been in Paleo of an evening only day trip.  Must say it is very pretty and seem to be a lot of Taverna's around.

We have stayed in Dassia, Benitses, Kassiopi and Aghios Gordios. We have enjoyed all four places and we do not like disco's thumping all night long. I can not drive and hubbie does not want to so we have to depend on public transport.

Can I join the Kassiopi club too?

Especially if you choose to visit outside July and August, Kassiopi is just lovely.

Wonderfully picturesque harbour, with a nice selection of bars for peoplewatching, a great diversity of tavernas (all good), friendly people, good walks in the local area (flat if you need that), and excellent transport links.

It's wonderfully relaxed and chilled out without being too quiet and has a lovely homely atmosphere

Have to say that having seen quite a number of other resorts, San Stef NW takes some beating. So my suggestion would be....

Go back for the 16th time ha ha.

Paul....... have already booked 2 weeks from 27 june at EFI through Noula. Booked flight through First Choice on a Thomson Fly plane at £40 each cheaper than Thomson. Due to wife getting new better paid job we are stuck with set holidays. Instead of later 2 weeks we can only have August bank holiday week so just thought we may try elsewhere.  When do you go again. Love your avatar that is the best I have ever seen. How many attempts did it take?   Off to Gran Canaria, Maspalomas soon. They must do sculptures there!!!!!

Why not stay in Corfu town itself? There are good bus connections to every resort on the island, plus taxis if you can afford them, and beaches close to town if you want to swim. You can eat in a different restaurant every night, experience the nightly volta and conversation in the Liston, as well as concerts and cultural activities. The discos are outside the town.

It seems to me that folks coming to this site often overlook what the town itself has to offer. My family has been making the town our base for more years than I would want to say and we always find new things to do there.

Also check out the Kontakali Bay Hotel or somewhere near Gouvia:

http://www.kontokalibay.com/Welcome.aspx

If you like walks I recommend the route from Gouvia towards the Ropa Valley that's in the Sunflower Guide for Corfu.  It takes you around the beautiful lake Scottini, which co-incidentally is just a few hundred metres from where I now live.  The views of the Ropa Valley as you decend from Temploni are breathtaking.

I admit a certain amount of prejudice :-)

Best regards,

Rob Sherratt

Temploni, Corfu
