Benitses was a little too lively for some of us a few years ago, but it now seems to offer a more family atmosphere with a good variety of restaurants and tavernas. Of course I enthusiastically endorse the idea of a trip into Corfu town, day or evening. It's easy from Benitses. If you like the Achillion you might also enjoy touring the Palace in town, as well as the Old Fortress which both have spectacular views out over the water.

Have also looked into Kavos, even though we are real party poopers would love to see if its as wild as Playa De Las Americas in Tenerife....
We probably won't go back to Corfu as he doesn't like to do a destination more than once, which is why I really want to make the best of this trip.
