I am one of them who say go to Corfu Town of an evening. Especially Friday or Saturday evening. It is buzzing with people local and tourist.  Really Love it.  We stayed in Benitses last September for 1 week and had a great time.  Blue Bus every half hour and only 20 mins into Corfu.  Nice Bars/Restaurants for you to sit at and People Watch in Benitises.

Hope you have a great time.  Hope Hubbie likes his Surprise.

Viv

Excellent!!

Also googled the Palace - that should go down very well with us, so excited for him..and me of corse, he's going to absolutely LOVE this surprise or he'll be in trouble!

If you go the palace then you must have a drink in the cafe bar on the same road where the views of the island are brilliant. Also a good view of the airport

Benitses was a little too lively for some of us a few years ago, but it now seems to offer a more family atmosphere with a good variety of restaurants and tavernas. If you're looking for something a bit quieter without having to go all the way across the island, one day you could head south a bit to Mesoghi, as far south of the big hotel as you can get. You can have dinner right on the seashore, so relaxing at sunset (my favourite places are Memories and Bacchus). Go a bit further south to Boukari for an even less touristy experience.

Of course I enthusiastically endorse the idea of a trip into Corfu town, day or evening. It's easy from Benitses. If you like the Achillion you might also enjoy touring the Palace in town, as well as the Old Fortress which both have spectacular views out over the water.

I hope you both have a wonderful time in Corfu and return sooner next time.

Excellent advise, thanks so much.

Have also looked into Kavos, even though we are real party poopers would love to see if its as wild as Playa De Las Americas in Tenerife....

We probably won't go back to Corfu as he doesn't like to do a destination more than once, which is why I really want to make the best of this trip.

Wow, I have to say thank you to all of you who suggested stuff to do on this holiday, the hubs absolutely LOVED his time there "this is the best birthday present ever!!"... the people on the island couldn't do enough for us, everywhere we went we were met with smiles and friendliness, am very depressed to be home, but hope to one day return to Corfu.  I passed the place I stayed at last time, Ipsos, with the mountain views in the background - its still as beautiful.  We hired a quad bike with a roof and went all over the island with our Aqualand map... it was just amazing, absolutely amazing - the best holiday I have ever had.  We did all that was suggested and so much more, we literally felt like locals by the time we left!!  Thanks to all who helped out.
