one of the things that we are hoping to do to our house (when it goes through...) is to update the kitchen.

i have looked through previous posts on the subject, but can't seem to find a good place to look on corfu for a fitted kitchen - shipping one from the uk would probably negate any cost savings!

any ideas?

The diy shop in velonades sells fitted kitchens not sure if they have a contracter to fit it in though. Will ring tomorrow and ask for you.

They're probably the best local manufacturers. There must be a branch in Corfu.

Hi Becky, Good luck with your house!!

You could also try Profi in Corfu Town, they are very cheap. If you are willing to spend some money, get one built to your design for around �4000. You could also try Ikea in Athens, and then get a local haulage company to bring it over for you (I don't know where your house is, but ask Nikos or Varthis at the BP station Roda, I know they deliver all over Northern Corfu and go to Athens regularly).

Becky why don�t you start off a thread about what you are doing to your house and where you've found the best things to buy ...like Kitchens, tiles, bedroom furniture and costs etc�

I think it would be very interesting and helpful to people like ourselves who are moving there. The shops to go to and products do change from time to time so for people like me it would be very useful and we can all help.

For instance my thoughts were. I would need to buy from the UK and transport my kitchen or items like furniture to Corfu but after looking at the link provided. I now will be buying the kitchen there. If the price is right. as we go on I then can continue with my findings when I arrive this year or next .

Just a thought

roseanne - we are in the legal stages of buying our house - its not really ours yet!

we are going through the same quandries as you - as much as we would like to support local business, we are not sure that we will be able to find the same sort of choice as in the uk.

as far as transportation is concerned, mondial transport(http://www.mondialtransport.com/) seem best - everyone seems to use them!

i have emailed avelon (see above) to see if they have a distributor on corfu!

where are you looking for or where is your house, we are 'in' acharavi! pm me if you want...

Hi Becky

I'd recommend Sadro in Dassia - all their kitchens are hand made in a small factory on Corfu - not a huge range of styles but they seem exceptionally well made and solid. They can also provide all the appliances etc. Run by a very pleasant husband and wife team. They have a show room on the main road on the right as you enter Dassia from Ipsos. I don't have their contact details right now but if you are interested I'll get them.
