We have not got to yours and hubby's stage Becky as yet, but we are slowly building our plans to do the same, and no doubt will have the jitters when our time comes. One thing I have to say though, is reading all the posts from members who have property on the island already, those in the process of purchase or building, which has helped immensely, and I think will help even more when the times come.

You have done the paper work, you have made the move, done the purchase or build. Now comes the time when both of you can now reap the rewards of your labours, and enjoy your life in Corfu.

Now that you have come this far, the remainder will fall into place in due course, including establishing your business. Seeing your mosaics, I seriously think you might be on to something good, at least lets all hope so.

You maybe having a relapse with your MS now, but as you said yourself, being in Corfu has helped, therefore, it will continue to help, with all the good weather, being able to get into the water, all helps, and the less stress of old Blighty.

Every happiness to you both for the future, and Good Luck.

Cheers.

hi Becky

you have done all the hard bits ......this is just buyers remorse....what if this? What if that? Try not to get worried about things that you cant do anything about.......concentrate on the things you can do something about. (Easier to say than do)

Sorry to hear about your relapse and hope things get better as the pressure eases.

You know Everybody here wants it all to go well for you and has everything possible crossed and sending good vibes over the ether.

and dont forget you can always come on here and moan and rant if needed....there are some very helpful peeps on here.

Went on a bit there....sorry ......but anyone who drinks Mythos is my buddy lol

Chin up! we too had jitters when we made the decision to buy our place especially as it was only a plot of land and some drawings back in September 2003 since then we have stayed in our new home 5 times and our families too have got so much pleasure out of it we know that it was really worthwhile. I carry pictures of the place around with me in the UK for when I have a bad day and they really cheer me up and remind me that I will be back out there in a couple of months. Security wise we have great neighbours who keep an eye on the place for us (not that I think they need to!)  So enjoy it!!

cheers

Denise

Hi Becky

We bought our wee ruin last Oct and I continually waver between a state of panic and anxiety to euphoric exitement at the prospect of the huge task of turning my little ruin in the hills to something vaguely habitable. I wish I could be there now organising builders etc or just getting my hands dirty and having a go myself.

Unfortunately we are not due out until sept so things will have to wait til then and the kids will still want to have some sort of a holiday whilst we are there so we can't work all of the time.

I love this site because it makes me feel closer to Corfu and all my worries seem less daunting because of all the lovely people who can be called upon with ansers to all questions thrown at them.  You and your hubby are not alone coz we are all here to help! Take care.

Hi Becky,

As others have said, it's only natural to get these feelings - this is probably the biggest, most daring thing you've ever done. I couldn't believe it for ages that our house was really "ours"  and I still get a knot in my stomach and a tear in my eye sometimes when I think about it (like now).

Re security, I'm not sure where you house is, but if you are in a village you'll find that you couldn't wish for better neighbours - pleased that you've chosen their village, happy that an empty house is coming back to life and interested in your plans.  If you do have a particular friend, maybe you could leave a key with them and then keep in touch regularly just for re-assurance.

Go for it - there are hundreds of us out there willing you to suceed (and wishing it was us ).

Jane

but he is worried about keeping the house aired, and sorting out the bedding when you arrive...oh and the garden...

any other top tips to calm him down?

thanks again

Perhaps you'll make some friends from the village once you're out there, and you can get someone local to keep an eye on the place/look after it for you when you're in the UK?
