I am thinking about renting out my villa next year. Does anyone know the full list of requirements for the granting of an EOT lcence?

As ever, all help is gratefully received!

Hi David,

I have been trying to find something from Corfu on the EOT licence, but so far no luck. However, I have found this one for Crete, and being Greek, will no doubt be exactly the same for Corfu. At least it will give an insight on what to do, etc.

Hope this helps.

Hello David,

A couple of weeks ago I sent an email to the Greek National Tourist Office in London, but so far I've not yet received a reply.

When I'm in Corfu in a couple of weeks I will be calling into the Tourist Office in Corfu Town (Chris kindly gave me the address) and hopefully I will gain first hand information/written details then.

Hopefully I will be able to post some information on my return.

Hi Eileen

I also have emailed the GNTO for info on the EOT license but like you have not had a reply yet. I am keen to find out what the criterea for room sizes because I remember watching 'No going back' with the couple that moved to Crete. They only got their license by the skin of their teeth because the bedroom sizes were almost too small, but  I think they managed to get round it by using the external measurement, or something like that.

Look forward to seeing your post if you get the info whilst in Corfu. Meantime I will keep trying from this end.

O.K girls,

I'll keep you posted, I'm not back until 16th July, but hopefully I will have further information for you.

That's interesting about the room sizes Mrs D.  I've never heard of that one, I'll specifically ask about that for you.

Likewise, I'd be really interested to hear how you get on. If there is any chance of picking up an extra set of paperwork and mailing it to me I'd be eternally grateful!

My understanding is that the criteria surrounding swimming pool safety, railings etc are quite strict as are the fire safety issues with fire extinguishers needed in all the relevant rooms etc.

Hi David

We have found the British Consulate in Corfu more than helpful with questions on Corfu.  They normally respond by e-mail within a couple of days.  Please find below their e-mail address.  They are definitely well worth a try.

Response from Consulate follows:

We have contacted the Corfu branch of EOT (0030 26610 37640) and the information that we have is that it is not always possible to obtain a licence, it depends on the area that you are building the property in.

The engineer who is building the property for you, must contact the EOT engineer, Mr Angelos KOSKINAS (0030 26610 39422), available from 21.06.05, who will visit the property and advise you on the ability to obtain the licence and the procedure that must be followed. If you do not have an engineer then you can contact the EOT engineer yourself at the above number or send an e-mail to:

eotcorfu@otenet.gr.

Unfortunately the information is not available in English.
