In September last year,Iwas at the premises of Bougarini construction when a large container of treated wood arrived from abroad to construct our house and many others on the Island. These people are honest and honourable people, who take pride in their builds, and I assure you that our house will be standing  long after we are dead and gone,So will the wonderful house John has built for himself at Sidari, It is open as a show home, I suggest Graham you pop and have a look,at their standard of workmanship, You cannot help but be impressed

They must be importing the wood themselves as the woodyards still tell us that it is not available. So long as they are doing this and using the correct wood there then should be no problem.

I will pop in when I am over there and have a look. Should be interesting.

Replying to John and Hilary's original question: to a large extend the cost depends on the quality of contsruction - you can still build for around 1000 Euros per sq metre but if you are looking to occupy the property all year round then you might want to specify insulation, double glazing, central heating, aluminium windows etc etc and this could push the cost up to 1200 or even 1500 Euros per sq m if you want better than average fittings such as baths etc).

I am currently builsdng a house near San Stefanos in the North East and happy to help if you have any other queries.
