We like to drive down leisurely and have pre-booked stop-overs in interesting and comfortable hotels. We use places recommended by Alistair Sawday's Special Places. We limit the days driving to 350/400 miles. The last trip was Channel Tunnel to Metz, Saltburg and then one night in Venice. The prices we paid per night for B&B were 57€, 47€ and 100€ in Venice. A mini holiday, thoroughly enjoyable and finish with 24 hours relaxing in an outside cabin on the ferry.
We previously did Strasbourg, Geneva and then Venice, doing 2 nights at each stopover. We really enjoy the travelling and looking forward to planning our next trip.
